Prevalence of sarcopenia components and associated socioeconomic factors among older adults living in rural areas in the state of Ceará, Brazil.

The aim is to determine the prevalence of sarcopenia components and associations with socioeconomic variables in older persons living in rural areas in the state of Ceará, Brazil. We conducted a cross-sectional study with 274 older adults. Muscle mass was assessed using muscle mass index (MMI), measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis and calf circumference.

Nursing diagnoses for institutionalized elderly people based on Henderson's theory.

Objective: To develop nursing diagnostic statements for institutionalized elderly people.

Method: Descriptive study conducted with elderly subjects of a Long Stay Institution through the application of forms for the support of anamnesis and physical examination and a search of medical records. The diagnostic statements were developed based on the International Classification for Nursing Practice and categorized according to the Henderson's theoretical model.

Indicators of health and safety among institutionalized older adults.

Objective: To identify the incidence of mortality, diarrheal diseases, scabies and falls; and the prevalence of pressure ulcers - all of which are related to the safety ofinstitutionalized older adults.

Method: This was a documentary retrospective study developed in a long-term residential careinstitution for older adults in the Northeast region of Brazil. The data were gathered from records of health assessment indicators filed between January 2008 and December 2015.
