However, it is still unclear whether omega-3 supplementation can reduce the occurrence of major cardiovascular events (MACEs).

SGLT2 inhibition and adipose tissue metabolism: current outlook and perspectives.

Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have emerged as important agents for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). SGLT2 inhibitors have been associated with improved cardiovascular outcomes, not only through their immediate hemodynamic effects-such as glycosuria and (at least temporary) increased natriuresis-but also due to their multifaceted impact on metabolism. Recently, studies have also focused on the effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on adipose tissue.

Exploring Quantum Phases of Dipolar Gases through Quasicrystalline Confinement.

The effects of frustration on extended supersolid states is a largely unexplored subject in the realm of cold-atom systems. In this work, we explore the impact of quasicrystalline lattices on the supersolid phases of dipolar bosons. Our findings reveal that weak quasicrystalline lattices can induce a variety of modulated phases, merging the inherent solid pattern with a quasiperiodic decoration induced by the external potential.

A single bout of physical exercise improves 1-hour post-load plasma glucose in healthy young adults.

Purpose: Physical exercise is a key component in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and plays an important role in maintaining a healthy glucose metabolism even in healthy subjects. To date, no studies have investigated the effect of a single bout of aerobic physical exercise on glucose metabolism in young, moderately active, healthy adults.

Methods: We performed an OGTT 7 days before and 24 h after a single bout of physical exercise, to evaluate 1-hour post-load plasma glucose and surrogate indexes of insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion.

In this Letter, we explore the effects on phases and phase transitions of the proximity to a Ruelle-Fisher instability, marking the transition to a collapsed state. To accomplish this, we study by quantum Monte Carlo simulations a two-dimensional system of soft-core bosons interacting through an isotropic finite-ranged attraction, with a parameter η describing its strength.

Surgical treatment and outcome of primary rib tumours in cats: eight cases (2016-2023).

Objectives: To describe the clinical features and oncologic outcome for cats with primary rib tumours.

Materials And Methods: Medical records for cats with surgically treated primary rib tumours from six veterinary referral centres were reviewed. Signalment, preoperative clinical signs, reconstruction technique, and surgical and oncologic outcome were retrieved from medical records or by telephone interview with owners and/or referring veterinarians.

Lynch Syndrome and Thyroid Nodules: A Single Center Experience.

Background: Lynch syndrome (LS) is a genetic disease with increased risk of colorectal cancer and other malignancies. There are few reported cases of thyroid cancer in LS patients. The aim of this study is to investigate the presence of thyroid nodules in LS patients and to explore their association with the genetic features of the disease.

Objectives: To investigate the use of endovascular gastrointestinal stapling devices to perform intestinal functional end-to-end stapled anastomosis in small dogs and cats.

A notable example is a system of identical bosons at low temperature under an external field mimicking an isotropic bubble trap, which constrains the particles to a portion of space close to a spherical surface. Using path integral Monte Carlo simulations, we examine the spatial structure and superfluid fraction in two emblematic cases.

Quasicrystalline Bose Glass in the Absence of Disorder and Quasidisorder.

We study the low-temperature phases of interacting bosons on a two-dimensional quasicrystalline lattice. By means of numerically exact path integral Monte Carlo simulations, we show that for sufficiently weak interactions the system is a homogeneous Bose-Einstein condensate that develops density modulations for increasing filling factor. The simultaneous occurrence of sizeable condensate fraction and density modulation can be interpreted as the analogous, in a quasicrystalline lattice, of supersolid phases occurring in conventional periodic lattices.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most widespread diseases worldwide. Lifestyle interventions, including diet and physical activity (PA), are fundamental non-pharmacological components of T2DM therapy. Exercise interventions are strongly recommended for people with or at risk of developing or already with overt diabetes, but adherence to PA guidelines in this population is still challenging.

Synthesis and Characterization of Alginate Gel Beads with Embedded Zeolite Structures as Carriers of Hydrophobic Curcumin.

Alginate-based beads containing a porous zeolite filler were developed as carriers of bioactive compounds with a hydrophobic nature, such as curcumin (Cur). Curcumin, a natural pigment extracted from the turmeric (Curcuma longa) plant, exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic, and antiviral properties. To enhance the bioavailability of the drug, curcumin needs to be encapsulated in a suitable carrier that improves its dispersibility and solubility.

Use of wound infusion catheters for postoperative local anaesthetic administration in cats.

Objectives: The present study aimed to document the use of the wound infusion catheter (WIC) following a variety of surgical procedures in cats, investigating complications and risk factors associated with catheter placement or local anaesthetic (LA) administration.
