Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a poor prognosis cancer with an aggressive growth profile that is often diagnosed at late stage and that has few curative or therapeutic options. PDAC growth has been linked to alterations in the pancreas microbiome, which could include the presence of the fungus Malassezia. We used RNA-sequencing to compare 14 matched tumor and normal (tumor adjacent) pancreatic cancer samples and found Malassezia RNA in both the PDAC and normal tissues.

Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia (WM) is a clonal B-lymphocyte neoplasm characterized by the presence of IgM monoclonal protein and ≥10% bone marrow involvement with lymphoplasmacytic cells. Several mature B-cell and plasma cell disorders can potentially produce monoclonal IgM immunoglobulin and hence, careful consideration of the differential diagnosis is vital. Clinico-pathological features, immunophenotype, and MYD88 mutation status help distinguish WM from other plasma cell and lymphoproliferative disorders.

Polycythemia vera (PV) is a rare myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) associated with significant impairment in quality of life (QoL) due to disease-related symptoms and complications. Assessment of disease burden constitutes standard monitoring of symptoms and response. Conventional treatments for MPN, such as hydroxyurea, phlebotomy, or interferon, have not shown a significant impact in QoL or patient-reported outcomes (PRO).

Fibrosing mediastinitis (FM) is a rare disorder resulting from abnormal immunological-mediated fibro-proliferative reaction in the mediastinum. Here, we describe a case of a 46-year-old female with an incidentally found 11×9 cm posterior mediastinal mass. Multiple biopsies of this unresectable, 18-fluorodeoxyglucose avid mass revealed marked fibrosis without any evidence of malignancy, suggesting idiopathic fibrosing mediastinitis as our initial diagnosis.

Introduction: Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL); is an unusual entity first described in 1990 that predominantly affects middle-aged men and is classified by WHO under peripheral T-cell lymphomas. We present a 26-year-old man with HSCTL treated with a non-CHOP regimen.

Case: A 26 year old immigrant from Cameroon without significant past medical history presented with abdominal discomfort that was first noted 1 month prior at which time he was elbowed in abdomen during a basketball game.

Severe vitamin B deficiency is well known to cause morphological alterations in bone marrow. In rare instances, these myelodysplastic and megaloblastic changes can coexist with cytogenetic abnormalities. Here, we report a case of a 38-year-old African-American woman with pernicious anaemia, who was found to have an isolated 20q deletion and which resolved after vitamin B replacement.

Isolated pleural metastasis with pleural effusion is a rare occurrence in malignant melanoma. We report an unusual case of a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and recurrent pleural effusions. The pleural fluid cytology and immunohistochemistry profile were consistent with the diagnosis of CLL.
