Most honey bee pathogens, such as Vairimorpha (Nosema), cannot be rapidly and definitively diagnosed in a natural setting, consequently there is typically the spread of these diseases through shared and re-use of beekeeping equipment. Furthermore, there are no viable treatment options available for Nosema spores to aid in managing the spread of this bee disease. We therefore aimed to develop a new method using novel Zinc Phthalocyanine (ZnPc) as a photosensitizer for the photodynamic inactivation of Nosema spores that could be used for the decontamination of beekeeping equipment.

For this reason, understanding tourist behavior during and after significant tourism crises is critical for the recovery of the tourism industry. To achieve this aim, first, we examine the effects of perceived vulnerability and perceived severity factors in the threat appraisal of domestic tourists, the effects of the response efficacy, response cost, and self-efficacy factors in the coping appraisal, and the effects of fear and hope factors as the anticipatory emotion responses regarding protection motivation.

Effects of Modified Osteoplastic Pterional Craniotomy on Temporal Muscle Volume and Frontal Muscle Nerve Function.

 Pterional craniotomy is a surgical approach frequently used in aneurysm and skull base surgery. Pterional craniotomy may lead to cosmetic and functional problems, such as eyebrow drop due to facial nerve frontal branch damage, temporal muscle atrophy, and temporomandibular joint pain. The aim was to compare the postoperative effects of our modified osteoplastic craniotomy with classical pterional craniotomy in terms of any change in volume of temporal muscle and in the degree of frontal muscle nerve damage.

We investigated the distribution of natriuretic peptides and their receptors in goat (Capra hircus) heart tissue using the peroxidase-anti-peroxidase (PAP) immunohistochemical method. Strong staining of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) was observed in atrial cardiomyocytes, while strong staining for brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) was observed in ventricular cardiomyocytes.

Tegmento-vermian dysplasia: radiologic features of a novel described anatomic variation.

Here we present the incidental radiological findings of a case that has a huge pontine tegmental cap orienting posteriorly towards the fourth ventricle and continues with the inferior vermis, accompanied by a midline anterior midbrain cleft. Having knowledge about this variation will prevent a misdiagnosis of a posterior fossa tumor and eventual unnecessary biopsy or operation.

The aim of this study was to detect the regional and mucosal distribution of endocrine cells that secrete gulcagon, somatostatin, Chyholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8), serotonin, secretin, substance P (SP) and histamine in the small and large intestine of New Zealand white rabbit ( L.) using immunohistochemical peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) method. It was found that most of the immunoreactive (IR) endocrine cells, which are oval- or spindle-shaped, are spotted in the basal parts of the relevant glands.

An 11-year-old morbidly obese boy was diagnosed with pancreatic pseudocyst. Following fine needle aspiration, the cyst recurred in 1-month follow-up. Therefore, endoscopic drainage and cystoduodenostomy was performed following endosonography.

We investigated carbohydrate residues on the epithelial surface, in the epithelial cells and in gland cells of the tongue of the mole rat using histochemical methods. We used horseradish peroxidase-conjugated lectins from Helix pomatia (HPA), Arachishypogaea (PNA), Ulexeuropaeus (UEA I), Canavaliaensiformis (Con A). The most intense reactivity was observed in the keratin layer with HPA, UEA I and Con A, and in the epithelial cells with UEA I and Con A.

Persistence of postoperative radicular pain after surgery for multifocal disc herniation (MFDH) is a clinical problem. This study aims to evaluate the effects of a combined treatment approach compared with unilateral stabilization on early postoperative radicular pain in patients with MFDH.Age, sex, level of operation, clinical findings, and radicular pain visual analogue scale (VAS) scores before surgery in the early postoperative period and at 3 months after surgery were retrospectively reviewed for 20 cases of multifocal lumbar disc herniation.

The increased usage of fiber reinforced polymer composites in load bearing applications requires a detailed understanding of the process induced residual stresses and their effect on the shape distortions. This is utmost necessary in order to have more reliable composite manufacturing since the residual stresses alter the internal stress level of the composite part during the service life and the residual shape distortions may lead to not meeting the desired geometrical tolerances. The occurrence of residual stresses during the manufacturing process inherently contains diverse interactions between the involved physical phenomena mainly related to material flow, heat transfer and polymerization or crystallization.
