This retrospective population-based study investigated the impact of elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) therapy on inhaled medication adherence in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). Prescription refill rate (PRR) for several inhaled medications were compared before and after ETI introduction in three major Italian CF centers. We found a significant decrease in PRR for most inhaled antibiotics and dornase-alpha after ETI implementation.

Infertility arises mainly due to inflammatory mediators in the peritoneal fluid, contributing to local hypoestrogenism, which appears to exacerbate chronic inflammation and sensitize pelvic nerves. Local hypoestrogenism within endometriotic lesions contrasts with the systemic estrogen-dependent nature of the disease.

Recent studies demonstrated the dysregulation of the endocannabinoid (eCB) system (ECS) in AD brain. Here, we explored the possible alterations of ECS and the onset of gliosis in the retina of AD-like mice.

This condition can manifest in various features, focal or diffuse adenomyosis or as an adenomyoma, and it may involve different uterine walls (posterior, anterior, and/or lateral walls). The disease can also be classified into different degrees, as mild, moderate and severe, which can be associated with more intense symptoms, although this correlation is not always directly proportional.

Here, we study () gene mutations in the human model of HSPC and discuss the available literature on this topic. mutations occur in ~20% of AML cases, are recognized among the mutations earliest acquired during leukemogenesis, and are targets of specific inhibitors (ivosidenib and enasidenib, respectively).

HFpEF is associated with multiple comorbidities, and obesity is one of the most common. A distinct phenotype has been proposed for obese patients with HFpEF.

As a result, the question of whether chronic treatments can be safely stopped or adapted to this new situation has become a matter of great interest. Our objective was to derive a consensus among Italian experts on the impact of ETI on the current clinical management of CF lung disease.

The levels of targetable CFTR proteins are a main variable in the success of patient-specific therapy. In turn, the CFTR protein level depends, at least in part, on the level of mRNA.

CFTR-modulating drugs may overcome specific defects, such as the case of Trikafta, which is a clinically approved triple combination of Elexacaftor, Tezacaftor and Ivacaftor (ETI) that exhibited a strong ability to rescue the function of the most frequent F508del pathogenic variant even in genotypes with the mutated allele in single copy. Nevertheless, most rare genotypes lacking the F508del allele are still not eligible for targeted therapies.

The aim of this study was to create a post-NEoadjuvant Score System (pNESSy) to choose surgery, optimizing oncological and aesthetical outcomes.
Methods: Patients (stage I-III) underwent surgery post-NACT (breast-conserving surgery (BCS), oncoplastic surgery (OPS), and conservative mastectomy (CMR) were included.
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) today represents a cornerstone in the treatment of locally advanced breast cancer and highly chemo-sensitive tumors at early stages, increasing the possibilities of performing more conservative treatments and improving long term outcomes. Imaging has a fundamental role in the staging and prediction of the response to NACT, thus aiding surgical planning and avoiding overtreatment. In this review, we first examine and compare the role of conventional and advanced imaging techniques in preoperative T Staging after NACT and in the evaluation of lymph node involvement.

However, there are scant data on the mobilization of hemopoietic stem cells (HSC) after fractionated GO. We retrospectively studied data from five Italian centers and identified 20 patients (median age 54 years, range 29-69, 15 female, 15 NPM1) that attempted HSC mobilization after fractionated doses of GO + "7 + 3" regimen and 1-2 cycles of consolidation (GO + HDAC + daunorubicin).

Methods: A descriptive study based on a survey questionnaire. It consisted of three sections (patients, diagnosis, and treatment), and sent to all the Italian PCD Centers.
Background: Allogeneic transplant is an effective salvage therapy in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) relapsed or refractory (R/R) to previous treatments. In recent years, immunotherapies (conjugated antibody and checkpoint inhibitors [CPI]) showed interesting results and were used as bridge therapies to allotransplant.
Aim: The aim of this retrospective study in Lazio region was to evaluate the impact of these new therapies on outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) in comparison with standard chemotherapies used in the past.
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer among women worldwide. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) indications have expanded from inoperable locally advanced to early-stage breast cancer. Achieving a pathological complete response (pCR) has been proven to be an excellent prognostic marker leading to better disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS).

In CF, monocytes and monocyte-derived macrophages have been shown to display defective phagocytosis and antimicrobial activity against relevant lung pathogens, including . Thus, we addressed the effect of CFTR triple modulator therapy (elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI)) on the activity of CF monocytes against .

Prevalence of heart failure is increasing worldwide mainly due to the ageing of the population and the improvement in diagnosis and treatment. In recent years, huge progress has been made in the management of heart failure patients. A new definition of chronic heart failure based on left ventricular ejection fraction and its possible trajectories has been reported.
