Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study was to explore the home language environment and language outcome of Brazilian toddlers who were hard of hearing, (HH) and controls with typical hearing (TH), and investigate the reliability of using the LENA recording system within a Brazilian Portuguese context.

Methods: Fourteen families participated in the study (seven children who were HH and seven controls with TH. Each family contributed with one all-day recording.

Purpose: Translate, adapt and validate the Parent's Evaluation of Aural/Oral Performance of Children questionnaire to Brazilian Portuguese, as well as analyzing the interaction between parents/caregivers and children.

Methods: After translated, back translated and adapted this questionnaire was administered to 13 parents or guardians of children with moderate to severe hearing loss that were treated in the ambulatory of audiology of the Institution. Parents should fill out the diary, answering the questionnaire, giving as many examples of observed behaviors for each question and return for follow-up after a week for an interview with the evaluator or child's therapist.

Purpose: To culturally adapt the Family Quality of Life Scale to the Brazilian Portuguese version and evaluate the instrument reliability and family quality of life of those who have children with hearing loss.

Methods: The process of cultural adaptation of the scale followed the steps of the Guidelines for the Process of Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Self-Report Measure. It was conducted in three stages: translation, back translation, and application in a pilot sample, as a way to check the comprehension difficulties of the items.
