Article Synopsis
  • Osteoporosis significantly affects the quality of life in the elderly and can lead to early death; the study investigates the therapeutic potential of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cell-derived extracellular vesicles (hucMSC-EVs) in combating osteoporosis.
  • Researchers isolated hucMSCs, obtained hucMSC-EVs, and evaluated their effects on osteoporosis in mouse models through various analyses, including microcomputed tomography and biochemical assessments.
  • Findings indicate that hucMSC-EVs can prevent bone loss and enhance bone strength, primarily by stimulating bone formation and decreasing fat accumulation in the bone marrow.

Vascular endothelial cell function responds to steady laminar shear stress; however, the underlying mechanisms are not fully elucidated. In the present study, we examined the effect of steady laminar shear stress on vascular endothelial cell autophagy and endothelial cell nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) expression using an ex vivo perfusion system. Human vascular endothelial cells and common arteries of New Zealand rabbits were pretreated with or without rapamycin or 3-MA for 30 min.
