Anthocyanins are susceptible to degradation by β-glycosidase, resulting in color loss. This study analyzed the impact of β-glycosidase on carboxylpyranocyanidin-3-O-glucoside (Carboxyl-pycy-3-gluc) and its precursor cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (Cy-3-gluc). Elucidating the neural mechanisms of general cognitive ability (GCA) is an important mission of cognitive neuroscience. Recent large-sample cohort studies measured GCA through multiple cognitive tasks and explored its neural basis, but they did not investigate how task number, factor models, and neural data type affect the estimation of GCA and its neural correlates. Background: Pyranoanthocyanins are stable anthocyanin derivatives. Carboxylpyranoanthocyanin is one of the simplest pyranoanthocyanin, among which the production of carboxylpyranocyanidin-3-O-glucoside (crboxyl-pycy-3-gluc) is most feasible as a result of the abundance of its reactant, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (Cy-3-gluc).

Hydroxyphenyl-pyranoanthocyanins, which are derived from anthocyanins and phenolic acids during the fermentation and aging of red wine, are prone to polymerization and precipitation, which largely limits their application and bioactivity research. In the present study, cyanidin-3--glucoside-4-vinylphenol (C3GVP), a hydroxyphenyl-pyranoanthocaynin, was prepared from C3G and -coumaric acid, and mannoprotein (MP) was employed to improve its stability in various complex solvents by forming a stable anthocyanin-MP complex. We used scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and circular dichroism spectroscopy to observe structural changes in C3GVP and MP.

The Fanconi anemia pathway is a key pathway involved in the repair of deoxyribonucleic acidinterstrand crosslinking damage, which chiefly includes the following four modules: lesion recognition, Fanconi anemia core complex recruitment, FANCD2-FANCI complex monoubiquitination, and downstream events (nucleolytic incision, translesion synthesis, and homologous recombination). Mutations or deletions of multiple Fanconi anemia genes in this pathway can damage the interstrand crosslinking repair pathway and disrupt primordial germ cell development and oocyte meiosis, thereby leading to abnormal follicular development. Premature ovarian insufficiency is a gynecological clinical syndrome characterized by amenorrhea and decreased fertility due to decreased oocyte pool, accelerated follicle atresia, and loss of ovarian function in women <40 years old.

Individuals generally form their unique memories from shared experiences, yet the neural representational mechanisms underlying this subjectiveness of memory are poorly understood. The current study addressed this important question from the cross-subject neural representational perspective, leveraging a large functional magnetic resonance imaging dataset ( = 415) of a face-name associative memory task. We found that individuals' memory abilities were predicted by their synchronization to the group-averaged, canonical trial-by-trial activation level and, to a lesser degree, by their similarity to the group-averaged representational patterns during encoding.

Cross-modal prediction serves a crucial adaptive role in the multisensory world, yet the neural mechanisms underlying this prediction are poorly understood. The present study addressed this important question by combining a novel audiovisual sequence memory task, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and multivariate neural representational analyses. Our behavioral results revealed a reliable asymmetric cross-modal predictive effect, with a stronger prediction from visual to auditory (VA) modality than auditory to visual (AV) modality.

Episodic memory enables humans to encode and later vividly retrieve information about our rich experiences, yet the neural representations that support this mental capacity are poorly understood. Using a large fMRI dataset ( = 468) of face-name associative memory tasks and principal component analysis to examine neural representational dimensionality (RD), we found that the human brain maintained a high-dimensional representation of faces through hierarchical representation within and beyond the face-selective regions. Critically, greater RD was associated with better subsequent memory performance both within and across participants, and this association was specific to episodic memory but not general cognitive abilities.
