Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of neoadjuvant and adjuvant androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in improving survival outcomes for patients with locally advanced prostate cancer (LAPC) after complete surgical resection.
  • A total of 139 patients were followed, revealing that those who received neoadjuvant ADT before surgery or adjuvant ADT after surgery had significantly better cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) compared to those who only received ADT.
  • Additionally, patients who underwent neoadjuvant ADT had better functional recovery, with higher rates of achieving continence within 12 months post-surgery.

Background: There are some limitations in the commonly used methods for the detection of prostate cancer. There is a lack of nomograms based on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) for the prediction of prostate cancer. The study seeks to compare the performance of mpMRI and Ga-PSMA PET-CT, and design a novel predictive model capable of predicting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) before biopsy based on a combination of Ga-PSMA PET-CT, mpMRI, and patient clinical parameters.

Although immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies have been approved for bladder cancer (BLCA), only a minority of patients respond to these therapies, and there is an urgent need to explore combined therapies. Systematic multi-omics analysis identified S100A5 as a novel immunosuppressive target for BLCA. The expression of S100A5 in malignant cells inhibited CD8 T cell recruitment by decreasing pro-inflammatory chemokine secretion.

ACER2 is a critical gene regulating cancer cell growth and migration, whereas the immunological role of ACER2 in the tumor microenvironment (TME) is scarcely reported. Thus, we lucubrate the potential performance of ACER2 in bladder cancer (BLCA). We initially compared ACER2 expressions in BLCA with normal urothelium tissues based on data gathered from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and our Xiangya cohort.

Introduction: The study aimed to investigate the effect of music therapy on anxiety alleviation among cancer patients.

Methods: A comprehensive literature research was performed in four electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science). Fifteen randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included.

Although neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has become the standard treatment option for muscle invasive bladder carcinoma (MIBC), its application is still limited because of the lack of biomarkers for NAC prediction. We conducted a territory multicenter real-world study to summarize NAC practice in China and its associated clinicopathologic variables with NAC response. Then, we developed and validated a robust gene-based signature for accurate NAC prediction using weighted correlation network analysis (WGCNA), the least absolute shrinkage and selector operation (LASSO) algorithm, a multivariable binary logistic regression model, and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Article Synopsis
  • - This study compares the effectiveness of three treatments for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC): neoadjuvant immunotherapy (tislelizumab), neoadjuvant chemotherapy (gemcitabine and cisplatin), and a combination of both.
  • - It finds that the neoadjuvant combination therapy has the best outcomes in terms of complete response rates and reducing the cancer stage, while also creating a model to predict which patients will benefit the most from this treatment.
  • - Additionally, it suggests that patients who fully respond to the treatments may be candidates for bladder preservation therapy, indicating a potential shift in how MIBC is treated.

The treatment for high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) remains highly debated for its high recurrence and progression risk. This work aimed to verify the efficacy and toxicity of intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) plus intravesical chemotherapy (IVC) in high-risk NMIBC. A comprehensive online literature search was conducted in three databases to select researches related to IAC + IVC for high-risk NMIBC.

RNA modification of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) plays critical roles in various biological processes, such as cancer development, inflammation, and the anticancer immune response. However, the role played by a comprehensive m6A modification pattern in regulating anticancer immunity in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we identified two independent m6A modification patterns with distinct biological functions, immunological characteristics, and prognoses in KIRC.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) and Transgender Women (TGW) in Thailand contribute to more than half of all new HIV infections annually. This cross-sectional study describes epidemiologic profiles of these key populations (KP) in Key Population-led Test and Treat study. Baseline data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and HIV/STI testing from MSM and TGW aged ≥18 years enrolled in a cohort study in six community sites in Thailand between October 2015 and February 2016.
