Wilms' tumor gene 1 () is a transcription and post-translational factor that has a crucial role in the biological and pathological processes of several human malignancies. For hematological malignancies, overexpression or mutation has been found in leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome. About 70-90% of acute myeloid leukemia patients showed overexpression, and 6-15% of patients carried mutations.

Background: Although B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) patients' survival has been improved dramatically, some cases still relapse. This study aimed to explore the prognosis-related novel differentially expressed genes (DEGs) for predicting the overall survival (OS) of children and young adults (CAYAs) with B-ALL and analyze the immune-related factors contributing to poor prognosis.

Methods: GSE48558 and GSE79533 from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and clinical sample information and mRNA-seq from Therapeutically Applicable Research to Generate Effective Treatments (TARGET) database were retrieved.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how low oxygen levels (hypoxia) affect the sensitivity of B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) cells to the chemotherapy drug Vincristine (VCR).
  • In experiments, B-ALL cell lines were treated with VCR in both normal and hypoxic conditions, showing that hypoxia reduced cell sensitivity to the drug and decreased apoptosis rates.
  • The results suggest that hypoxia leads to higher levels of HIF-1α, which may contribute to resistance to VCR by lowering the expression of the pro-apoptotic protein BAX in B-ALL cells.

Implicit sentiment analysis is a challenging task because the sentiment of a text is expressed in a connotative manner. To tackle this problem, we propose to use textual events as a knowledge source to enrich network representations. To consider task interactions, we present a novel lightweight joint learning paradigm that can pass task-related messages between tasks during training iterations.
