Background: Disabilities caused by perinatal asphyxia will burden child health and well-being. To date, our understanding about the situation and risk factors of perinatal asphyxia-induced disabilities among Chinese children is still limited.
Objectives: To evaluate the prevalence and socio-demographic risk factors of disabilities caused by perinatal asphyxia among Chinese children in 2006 and compare disability trajectories across different socio-demographic status.
Aims: To investigate the 29-year (1985-2014) trends in body dimensions and physical fitness test performances among 12-year-old Chinese children living in urban and rural areas.
Methods: The data were from the findings of seven cross-sectional surveys from the Chinese National Survey on Students' Constitution and Health. In the seven surveys, there were 34,238; 11,664; 17,485; 18,057; 19,254; 17,962; and 17,906 children, respectively.
Objective: By analyzing the levels of hemoglobin, vitamin A and vitamin D in Chinese rural pregnant women during 2010-2012, the changes of the prevalence of anemia were evaluated, and the nutritional status of vitamin A and vitamin D were evaluated.
Methods: All the data in this study came from the China Nutrition and Health Survey in 2010-2012. By using multi-stage stratified sampling and population proportional stratified random sampling method, pregnant women from 45 ordinary ruralareas and 30 poor rural areas were included in this study.
Objective: To assess the vitamin A status of Chinese rural elderly population by analyzing the serum retinol levels of Chinese rural elderly residents in 2010-2012.
Methods: Data were from the Chinese National Nutrition and Health Survey in2010-2012. Using the multistage stratified cluster sampling method, serum samples from the elderly residents aged above 60 years old( including), were obtained from 45 general rural and 30 poor rural.
Vitamin D plays a critical role in calcium and phosphate metabolism and helps maintain skeletal integrity in childhood, yet vitamin D status in Chinese children and adolescents is not well documented. The aim of this study was to assess the vitamin D status and analyze the risk factors for vitamin D deficiency in Chinese children and adolescents aged 6-17 years. Serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) was measured with a radioimmunoassay kit in 15,000 children and adolescent participants in the Chinese national nutrition and health survey (CNNHS) 2010-2012.

Hearing impairment may affect children's communication skills, social development, and educational achievement. Little is known about the prevalence of hearing impairment among Chinese children. Data were taken from the 2006 second China National Survey on Disability (CNSD).

Methods: A total of 6014 healthy adults aged 60 years or older (2948 men, 3066 women) participated in this descriptive cross-sectional analysis.

Although the prevalence of oral clefts in China is among the highest worldwide, little is known about the prevalence of speech disability associated with cleft palate in Chinese children. The data for this study were collected from the Second China National Sample Survey on Disability, and identification of speech disability associated with cleft palate was based on consensus manuals. Logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Limited hospital sources and sample sizes are available in most of the existing studies associated with healthy school-age children. The aim of this study was to compare vitamin A status of 6- to 13-year-old healthy children in China between 2002 and 2012.

The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence and potential influence factors of prenatal VAD of Chinese pregnant women.
Methods: China National Nutrition and Health Survey 2010-2013(CHNNS2010-2013) is a nationally representative cross-sectional study.

This study was conducted to examine the possible association between vitamin A status and overnutrition in Chinese urban children and adolescents. Weight, height and serum retinol were assessed in total 3457 children (7-9.9 years of age) and adolescents (10-17 years of age), using urban region data from the China National Nutrition and Health Survey 2010-2013 (CHNNS2010-2013) which is a nationally representative cross-sectional study.

Objective: To evaluate vitamin D deficiency prevalence and risk factors among pregnant Chinese women.
Design: A descriptive cross-sectional analysis.
Setting: China National Nutrition and Health Survey (CNNHS) 2010-2013.
Objective: To estimate the bias between the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) of serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25 (OH) D) determination, and to evaluate the correspondence of two methods.
Methods: Forty human serum samples were collected, and the serum 25 (OH) D were determined by immunodiagnostic systems 25-hydroxy vitamin D EIA and immunodiagnostic systems iSYS analyser. According to the standards of NCCLS EP9-A2 files, the within and without outlier, test adequate range, used linear regression procedure, and compare average and maximum bias between these two methods were excluded.
Background: We compared the utility of two 25-OH-D immunoassays to a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method for assessing human serum samples from the Chinese population.
Methods: In total, 451 Chinese serum samples were tested using the IDS 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D EIA kits and the LC-MS/MS 25-OH-D method. Of these, 239 samples were also analysed using DiaSorin 25-Hydroxyvitamin D RIA kits.
