The development and synthesis of hydrogels for chemical and biosensing are of great value. Hydrogels can be tailored to its own physical structure, chemical properties, biocompatibility, and sensitivity to external stimuli when being used in a specific environment. Herein, hydrogels and their applications in chemical and biosensing are mainly covered.

Shape memory polymers (SMPs) have been applied in aerospace engineering as deployable space structures. In this work, the coupled finite element method (FEM) was established based on the generalized Maxwell model and the time-temperature equivalence principle (TTEP). The thermodynamic behavior and shape memory effects of a single-arm deployment structure (F-DS) and four-arm deployment structure (F-DS) based on SMPs were analyzed using the coupled FEM.

A simple and fast method to prepare robust superhydrophobic octadecylphosphonic acid (ODPA) coating on oxidized copper mesh for self-cleaning and oil/water separation is reported here. The substrate of the copper mesh was first oxidized by simple immersion in an aqueous solution of 1.0 M NaOH and 0.
