Transparent flow field visualization techniques play a critical role in engineering and scientific applications. They provide a clear and intuitive means to understand fluid dynamics and its complex phenomena, such as laminar flow, turbulence, and vortices. However, achieving fully two-dimensional quantitative visualization of transparent flow fields under non-invasive conditions remains a significant challenge.

Thin-film lithium tantalate (TFLT) is attracting increasing attention in nonlinear generation of visible lasers due to its large second-order nonlinearity and reduced photorefractive effect. In this Letter, we design and fabricate a periodically poled TFLT waveguide for frequency doubling of a near-infrared laser operating at around 1064 nm. Continuous-wave 1.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) are highly versatile materials based on inorganic modes connected via organic linkers or purely via the connection of organic building blocks, respectively. This results in 3-D nanoporous frameworks, which, due to their combination of high porosity and variability of building blocks, can exhibit exceptional properties that make them attractive. Certain applications (e.

Interleukin (IL)-17-producing γδ-T cells (γδT-17) are a major source of IL-17 within the tumor microenvironment and have been shown to influence tumor development and therapy outcomes in various cancers. However, the role and presence of γδT-17 cells in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remain poorly understood. It is also unclear how these cells might affect radiotherapy, the primary treatment for NPC patients.

Objective: To develop a predictive tool in the form of a Nomogram based on the Cox regression model, which incorporates the impact of the length of treatment cycles on the outcome of live birth, to evaluate the probability of infertile couples having a live birth after one or more complete cycles of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and to provide patients with a risk assessment that is easy to understand and visualize.

Methods: A retrospective study for establishing a prediction model was conducted in the reproductive center of Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital (formerly Shenzhen Zhongshan Urology Hospital). A total of 4413 patients who completed ovarian stimulation treatment and reached the trigger were involved.

Objective: To investigate the association between thyroid dysfunction or thyroid autoimmunity (TAI) and diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).

Methods: A total of 2,867 women undergoing their first fertilization (IVF) cycle at Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2021, were enrolled in this study. The participants had documented thyroid and ovarian reserve metrics.

Background: The study aims to investigate the application of surgical vaginoscopy via a no-touch hysteroscopic approach for the management of female genital polyps. The primary objective is to assess the feasibility of this technique in treating intrauterine pathologies in both pregnant and non-pregnant women.

Methods: A total of forty-six patients diagnosed with genital polyps underwent operative vaginoscopy at a university-affiliated hospital between April 1, 2017 and May 31, 2023.

To establish a predictive model for clinical pregnancy outcomes following the transfer of a single fresh blastocyst in vitro fertilization (IVF). 615 patients (492 in training set and 123 in test set) who underwent the first single and fresh blastocyst transfer in the first IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycle performed in fertility centre of Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital from July 2015 to June 2021 were enrolled in this study. Conventional method such as logistic regression (LR), individual machine learning methods including naive bayesian (NB), K-nearest neighbours (K-NN), support vector machine (SVM), decision tree (DT), and ensemble learning methods including random forest (RF), XGBoost, LightGBM, Voting were used to establish the clinical pregnancy outcome prediction model, and the efficacy among different models was compared.

Background: SARS-CoV-2, a highly contagious coronavirus, is responsible for the global pandemic of COVID-19 in 2019. Currently, it remains uncertain whether SARS-CoV-2 possesses oncogenic or oncolytic potential in influencing tumor progression. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the clinical and functional role of SARS-CoV-2 on tumor progression.

Optical wireless communication (OWC) stands out as one of the most promising technologies in the sixth-generation (6G) mobile networks. The establishment of high-quality optical links between transmitters and receivers plays a crucial role in OWC performances. Here, by a compact beam splitter composed of a metasurface and a fiber array, we proposed a wide-angle (~120°) OWC optical link scheme that can parallelly support up to 144 communication users.

Article Synopsis
  • Endometrial immune cells play a crucial role in maintaining the health and receptivity of the endometrium for embryo implantation, and understanding their regional variations is essential for studying both normal and abnormal conditions in women's reproductive health.
  • In this study, endometrial biopsies from four different regions of the uterus in premenopausal women were analyzed using advanced flow cytometry and multiplex immunofluorescent techniques to explore the distribution of immune cell populations.
  • Results showed that immune cell distribution is largely uniform across the various regions during the proliferative phase, although significant changes were noted in areas with focal hemorrhage, specifically an increase in CD8 T cells, underscoring the influence of localized issues on the immune environment.

Non-Hermitian physics has greatly enriched our understanding of nonequilibrium phenomena and uncovered novel effects such as the non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) that has profoundly revolutionized the field. NHSE has been predicted in systems with nonreciprocal couplings which, however, are challenging to realize in experiments. Without nonreciprocal couplings, the NHSE can also emerge in systems with coexisting gauge fields and loss or gain (e.

Immune dysfunction in early pregnancy including overactivation of cytotoxic CD16 NK cells and proinflammatory M1 macrophages at the maternal-fetal interface interferes with trophoblast invasion, spiral artery remodeling, and decidualization, potentially leading to miscarriage. Immunosuppressants like glucocorticoids (GCs) are used to regulate the immune microenvironment in clinical treatment, but the lack of safe and efficient tissue-specific drug delivery systems, especially immune cell-specific vectors, limits their widespread clinical application. Here, a previously uncharacterized delivery system is reported, termed GC-Exo-CD16Ab, in which GCs are loaded into purified exosomes derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells, and subsequently decorated with antibody CD16Ab.

Topological pumps have garnered substantial attention in physics. However, the requirement for slow evolution speed to satisfy adiabaticity greatly restricts their application in on-chip devices. Here, we discover a direct link between adiabaticity and quantum metric, the real part of quantum geometry that has been relatively less explored compared to its imaginary counterpart, the Berry curvature.

Gastric/gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) cancer represents a significant global health challenge. Radical surgery remains the cornerstone of treatment for resectable G/GEJ cancer. Supported by robust evidence from multiple clinical studies, therapeutic approaches, including adjuvant chemotherapy or chemoradiation, and perioperative chemotherapy, are generally recommended to reduce the risk of recurrence and enhance long-term survival outcomes post-surgery.

Because of their ultra-light, ultra-thin, and flexible design, metalenses exhibit significant potential in the development of highly integrated cameras. However, the performances of metalens-integrated camera are constrained by their fixed architectures. Here we proposed a high-quality imaging method based on deep learning to overcome this constraint.
