Establishing a high-throughput detection technology for amino acid (AA) content in milk using mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy has profound implications for enhancing nutritional value of milk, identifying superior milk sources, producing specialty dairy products, and expanding Dairy Herd Improvement (DHI) metrics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of MIR spectroscopy in predicting the content of 15 individual total AA (TAAs) and 16 free AA (FAAs) in bovine milk as well as to investigate the major factors affecting the phenotypic variability of AA content. From March 2023 to March 2024, 513 milk samples were collected from 10 Holstein dairy farms in China and analyzed using Bentley spectrometers for MIR measurements.

This paper introduces an enhanced Whale Optimization Algorithm, named the Multi-Swarm Improved Spiral Whale Optimization Algorithm (MISWOA), designed to address the shortcomings of the traditional Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) in terms of global search capability and convergence velocity. The MISWOA combines an adaptive nonlinear convergence factor with a variable gain compensation mechanism, adaptive weights, and an advanced spiral convergence strategy, resulting in a significant enhancement in the algorithm's global search capability, convergence velocity, and precision. Moreover, MISWOA incorporates a multi-population mechanism, further bolstering the algorithm's efficiency and robustness.

C-type lectins, one of the pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), play significant roles in innate immune responses through binding to the pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) presented on surfaces of microorganisms. Here, a novel C-type lectin (named as MaCTL) from blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala) was cloned and characterized. The arsenical resistance-3 (ACR3) family constitutes the most common pathway that confers high-level resistance to toxic metalloids in various microorganisms and lower plants. Based on the structural model constructed by AlphaFold2, the Acr3 antiporter from Bacillus subtilis (Acr3 ) exhibits a typical NhaA structure fold, with two discontinuous helices of transmembrane (TM) segments, TM4 and TM9, interacting with each other and forming an X-shaped structure.
