We established an innovative and easy-to-use methodology for selenium (Se) extraction and determination from real water samples utilizing a magnetic nanocomposite adsorbent (MNC-SPE) aided by an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) approach. The MNC-SPE adsorbent was fabricated by hybridizing FeO nanoparticles on the surface of carbon nitride nanosheets (GCN NSs) that were coated with 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ionic liquid (P-IL). A variety of techniques were used to thoroughly analyze the structural and chemical characteristics of MNC-SPE, and appear to have a great number of diverse active surface functional units (imidazole ring and -NH).

Objectives: To estimate the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) for the Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire (NPI-Q), a widely used measure of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSDs) and associated caregiver stress.

Design: Ten registered nurses rated the severity of BPSDs and caregiver distress using the NPI-Q during six monthly assessments and an external reference, a 7-point Likert-type global rating of BPSDs change during five monthly assessments from the second to the sixth month. An anchor-based (global ratings of change) approach and a distribution-based (standard error of measurement) approach were used to determine the MCID for the NPI-Q severity and distress subscales.

Human stem cell factor initiates a diverse array of cellular responses, including hematopoiesis, cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and survival. To explore the relationship between its structure and function, we produced recombinant soluble human stem cell factor1-165 (wild type) and human stem cell factor1-141 (C-terminal truncated) in a yeast expression system and compared their biological activities and thermal stabilities. The biological activity of the two proteins was measured as a function of TF-1 cell viability and effects on downstream signaling targets after incubation.
