X-linked ichthyosis (XLI) is a genetic disorder characterized by a steroid sulfatase (STS) deficiency inducing excessive cholesterol sulfate accumulation and keratinization. Our study utilizes STS knockout mice to reproduce the hyperkeratinization typical of XLI, providing a valuable model for investigating the underlying mechanisms. From the experiment of STS-deficient keratinocytes using the CRISPR/Cas9 system, we observed upregulation of E-cadherin, which is associated with keratinocyte differentiation and stratification.

A strong choline peak may be a surrogate for aggressive tumor biology but its clinical relevance is unclear. The present study assessed whether total choline (tCho), as measured by proton MRS, can predict late recurrence in patients with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative early breast cancer.

Studies have reported satisfactory clinical outcomes after shoulder arthroplasty to treat osteonecrosis of the humeral head (ONHH). However, there are concerns regarding implant longevity in relatively young patients.

This work describes the targeted delivery of FL118 to tumors via antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) using the pH-sensitive CL2A linker. ADCs targeting Trop2, HER2, and EGFR exhibited potent in vitro cytotoxicity, with IC values as low as 0.

Background: Computational modeling indicated that pathological high shear stress (HSS; 100 dyn/cm) is generated in pulmonary arteries (PAs; 100-500 µm) in congenital heart defects causing PA hypertension (PAH) and in idiopathic PAH with occlusive vascular remodeling. Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is a feature of PAH. We hypothesize that HSS induces EndMT, contributing to the initiation and progression of PAH.

Purpose: This study evaluated the objective changes in the contralateral eye after unilateral cataract surgery.
Methods: The study was designed as retrospective observational study. It included 44 patients who underwent unilateral cataract surgery.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder characterized by heterogeneous molecular changes across diverse cell types, posing significant challenges for treatment development. To address this, we introduced a cell-type-specific, multi-target drug discovery strategy grounded in human data and real-world evidence. This approach integrates single-cell transcriptomics, drug perturbation databases, and clinical records.

Methods: The retrospective study, conducted from March 2019 to December 2021, included consecutive patients with medium-sized (1-3 cm) posterosuperior rotator cuff tears repaired using the transosseous-equivalent technique and bone marrow stimulation, with a minimum follow-up of 2 years. Patients were divided into 2 groups based on the degree of footprint coverage achieved: group C (complete coverage) and group I (incomplete coverage).
In this study, a transient viscosity adjustment method using a coaxial nozzle was explored to fabricate nanofibers from non-spinnable -poly(hydroxyamide) (-PHA). Unlike conventional electrospinning methods that often require additives to induce fiber formation, this approach relies on a sheath-core configuration, introducing tetrahydrofuran (THF) to the sheath to temporarily adjust solution viscosity. The diffusion of THF into the core -PHA solution resulted in momentary solidification at the interface, promoting nanofiber formation without compromising polymer solubility.

This study aims to investigate the infection status of zoonotic intestinal protozoan parasites in these migratory Mongolian gazelles. We collected 120 fecal samples from Mongolian gazelles during their migration from Mongolia to China in December 2023.

This paper presents a mutual coupling suppressed MIMO antenna with a hybrid decoupling technique for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications, enabling IoT in automotive systems. The single elements consist of a radiating patch with a cleaving circular slot to introduce a capacitive effect on the radiating structure.

Receptors are categorized on the basis of their location and engage in diverse biochemical mechanisms, which include posttranslational modifications (PTMs). Considering the broad impact and diversity of PTMs on cellular functions, we focus narrowly on neddylation, a modification closely resembling ubiquitination.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent arthroscopic partial or complete repair of large to massive rotator cuff tears between 2008 and 2013, with minimum 10-year follow-up. Functional outcomes were measured using the visual analog scale pain score, Subjective Shoulder Value, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score, University of California, Los Angeles shoulder score, and passive range of motion preoperatively and at the last follow-up.
Introduction: Ruptured vertebral artery dissections frequently exhibit pearl-and-string signs, a characteristic also observed in many unruptured dissections. This study examines the natural course of 50 unruptured acute vertebral artery dissections presenting with pearl-and-string signs and compares them to 10 ruptured dissections of the same morphological pattern.
Methods: We reviewed 633 radiology reports of head and neck imaging studies that included the keyword 'dissection'.
Background: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels may vary with administration and discontinuation of pre-hepatectomy chemotherapy in patients undergoing resection of colorectal cancer liver metastases (CLM). The prognostic significance of these changes, termed CEA dynamics, is unclear.
Patients And Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing hepatectomy for CLM (2001-2021) at a comprehensive cancer center were included.
Acetal substitution reactions can proceed by a number of mechanisms, but oxocarbenium ion intermediates are involved in many of these reactions. Our research has focused on understanding the conformational preferences, structures, and reactions of these intermediates. This Account summarizes our observations that electrostatic effects play a significant role in defining the preferred conformations, and that torsional effects determine how those intermediates react.

Although several studies have investigated factors related to reparability and various methods to predict it, inconsistent scoring methods and a lack of validation have hindered the utility of these methods.
Purpose: To develop machine learning models to predict the reparability of rotator cuff tears, compare them with previous scoring systems, and provide an accessible online model.
