The development of new antibiotics continues to pose challenges, particularly considering the growing threat of multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Structurally diverse natural products provide a promising source of antibiotics. Herein, we outline a concise approach for the collective asymmetric total synthesis of polycyclic xanthene myrtucommulone D and five related congeners.

Prediction performance of reservoir computing system based on a semiconductor laser subject to double optical feedback and optical injection.

A reservoir computing (RC) system based on a semiconductor laser (SL) with double optical feedback and optical injection is proposed, and the prediction performance of such a system is numerically investigated via Santa Fe Time-Series Prediction task. The simulation results indicate that the RC system can yield a good prediction performance. Through optimizing some relevant operating parameters, ultra-fast information processing rates up to Gb/s level can be realized for the prediction error is below 3%.

Study of concentration of amniotic fluid alpha-fetal protein in thalassemia fetus.

Objectives: To test the hypothesis that concentration of amniotic fluid alpha-fetal protein (AFAFP) is increased in thalassemia fetus.

Methods: A total of 135 cases of amniocentesis admitted from July 2013 to December 2014 were included in this study. Among them 98 cases of normal fetuses were assigned into control group and 37 cases of thalassemia fetus were included as thalassemia fetus group.
