Despite reported influences of the intratumoral microbiome on cancer progression, its role in this subtype remains unclear. This study aimed to characterize the microbial landscape and signatures of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma using RNA-Seq data from The Cancer Genome Atlas. Following microbial decontamination, differential microbial analysis was conducted between tumorous and adjacent non-tumorous samples.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterized by a highly metastatic potential and a heterogeneous tumor microenvironment. It exhibits limited sensitivity to conventional therapies, necessitating a deeper understanding of its pathogenesis. The role of the intratumoral microbiome in regulating cancer development in PDAC has been the subject of debate.

Background: The strategy for preventing colorectal cancer is screening by colonoscopy, which offers a direct way for detection and removal of adenomatous polyps (APs). American College of Gastroenterology guidelines recommend that people aged ≥ 45 years should undergo colonoscopy; however, how to deal with people aged ≤ 45 years is still unknown.

Aim: To compare the prevalence of APs and high-grade neoplasia between the left and right colon in patients ≤ 45 years.

Background: Various studies have reported cell-free RNAs (cfRNAs) as noninvasive biomarkers for detecting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, they have not been independently validated, and some results are contradictory. We provided a comprehensive evaluation of various types of cfRNA biomarkers and a full mining of the biomarker potential of new features of cfRNA.

Article Synopsis
  • - Mitophagy plays a role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but its variations and effects on immune response and patient prognosis were previously unclear.
  • - Two distinct mitophagy-related subtypes were identified, showing different survival outcomes and immune characteristics, with one subtype exhibiting poorer survival and better response to immunotherapy.
  • - A risk model based on nine mitophagy-related genes was established, acting as an independent risk factor for HCC, which could potentially help guide treatment decisions.

Mammalian genomic DNA in the cell nucleus doesn't exist in linear form but is highly folded and condensed into chromatin with a three-dimensional (3D) structure possessing a specific spatial structure and conformation. Hi-C, the high-throughput chromosome conformation capture technology, was first published in 2009, and it provides an in-depth view of 3D genomics. According to the size of DNA unit, the 3D hierarchical units of mammalian genome can be categorized sequentially as chromosome territory (CT), chromatin compartment A/B, topological associated domain (TAD), and chromatin loop.

The influence of the 70% methanolic extract (RMe) from Red Ginseng on the lysosome of tumor cells and on the cytocidal effect of mitomycin C (MMC) was investigated. RMe treatment showed an inhibitory effect on the solid form of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma but had no effect on the ascites form. MMC combined with RMe showed stronger antitumor effects, at the same time, the activity of lysosomal enzymes in tumor cells was also increased in comparison with that treated with MMC alone.
