Glycosylation, the intricate process of adding carbohydrate motifs to proteins, lipids, and exosomes on the cell surface, is crucial for both physiological and pathological mechanisms. Alterations in glycans significantly affect cancer cell metastasis by mediating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The subtle changes in glycosylation during malignant transformations highlight the importance of analyzing cell and exosome surface glycosylation for prognostic and early treatment strategies in cancer.

Background: Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) caused by multidrug-resistant organisms have emerged as a significant global issue, posing substantial challenges to healthcare systems. Low- and intermediate-level disinfectants are extensively utilized for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces in hospitals to mitigate environmental transmission of HAI. Therefore, the need for more effective and environmentally safe disinfectants is increasing.

This study assessed the efficacy of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) as a salvage therapy by comparing survival outcomes and treatment responses between HAIC as a first-line treatment and as a second-line option after ate-beva failure.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 100 patients with advanced HCC treated with HAIC between March 2022 and July 2024.
Background/aims: Fexuprazan, a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker, was developed for treating acid-related disorders. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of fexuprazan, unlike those of proton pump inhibitors, are independent of food effect. This study aims to evaluate differences in efficacy and safety of fexuprazan in patients with erosive esophagitis (EE) according to the timing of dosing.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the usage patterns and hypersensitivity reaction (HSR) profiles of six nonionic iodinated contrast media (ICMs) used in computed tomography (CT) to enhance patient safety and inform evidence-based contrast agent selection.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 248,209 CT scans obtained between January 2020 and December 2022. Six ICMs (iomeprol, iohexol, ioversol, iopromide, iodixanol, and iobitridol) were compared on the basis of their usage rates, HSR incidence, and severity.

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a high-risk condition that requires continuous monitoring and appropriate management during the natural course of the disease. In particular, the assessment of liver fibrosis is crucial for determining the optimal timing of antiviral therapy, evaluating the treatment response, and predicting the occurrence and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the management of CHB. Although a liver biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing liver inflammation, steatosis, and fibrosis, there has been a growing trend in the use of non-invasive tests, such as serum biomarkers, transient elastography, and shear wave elastography in CHB patients.

Methods: We conducted repeated cross-sectional SARS-CoV-2 serosurveys in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria among PLHIV who had an HIV viral load (VL) test during April 2022 to January 2023.
The zebrafish, a diurnal vertebrate, is commonly used in circadian rhythm studies due to its genetic and neurological similarities to humans. Circadian rhythms, which regulate sleep, neurotransmitter, behavior, and physiological responses to environmental changes, can be disrupted by various environmental factors. Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) are pervasive endocrine disruptors that individuals are frequently exposed to in daily life.

Recent genome-wide association studies have identified several single nucleotide polymorphisms within genes that are involved in skin pigmentation. Nevertheless, there have been no attempts to modulate this gene to improve skin discoloration.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 129 HCC patients with tumor diameters greater than 8 cm from January 2010 to December 2021, including 40 patients who received TARE, and 89 patients treated with TACE as primary treatment. Following Propensity Score Matching (PSM), 40 patients from each group were harmonized for baseline characteristics.

Objectives: The burden of SARS-CoV-2 infection in people living with HIV (PLHIV) in South Sudan is unknown.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional seroprevalence survey of SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin (Ig) G antibodies and other diseases of public health importance (strongyloidiasis, toxoplasmosis) in PLHIV in South Sudan during April 1, 2020-April 30, 2022. We used a multiplex SARS-CoV-2 immunoassay to detect IgG antibodies targeting the SARS-CoV-2 spike, receptor binding domain, and nucelocapsid (N) proteins, and antigens for other pathogens ().
Background: Anlotinib hydrochloride is a potent oral multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets VEGFR1-3, FGFR1-4, and PDGFR α/β, demonstrating significant antiangiogenic activity. Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is considered the effective treatment for intermediate/advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which remains a major global health challenge. This study evaluated the relative efficacy and safety of combining anlotinib with TACE against the standard TACE monotherapy among patients with intermediate or advanced HCC.

Methods: From January 2016 through December 2023, 85 patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma were enrolled in this retrospective study. In total, 40 patients received HAIC with lipiodol, while 45 patients were given HAIC without lipiodol.

A total of 104 rTG-type omega-3 oil samples, consisting of seven authentic (two commercial and five laboratory-made), 60 adulterated, and 37 unauthenticated commercial samples, were analyzed for their acylglycerol, FAEE, and total EPA/DHA contents. Type 1 authentic samples contained higher triacylglycerols (TG) (63.

Bisphenol A (BPA), a known endocrine disruptor, is commonly used in food containers and packaging. Recently, alternatives such as bisphenol AF (BPAF), bisphenol B (BPB), and bisphenol E (BPE) have been introduced to replace BPA. However, these substitutes have been reported to exhibit toxicity levels similar to BPA.
