Methods: From the Taiwan National Health Insurance data, we identified 44,690 newly diagnosed SD patients (846 with apnea and 43,844 without) from 1998 to 2001 and 89,380 comparisons without SD in the same period frequency matched by sex, age and diagnosis year. Incident osteoporosis was measured by the end of 2010.

Background: The aim of this study is to determine whether patients with a non-apnea sleep disorder (NA-SD) and comorbidity have an increased risk of periodontal disease.
Methods: Patients newly diagnosed with NA-SDs in 1997 to 2010 were identified as the study cohort from the Taiwan National Health Insurance database. For each patient with NA-SD, two matched controls without sleep disorders were randomly selected for comparison.
Background: The association between periodontal disease treatment and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) remains unclear. This study aims to determine whether surgical periodontal treatment reduces ESRD risk.
Methods: From the insurance claims data of patients with periodontal disease who were free of ESRD from 1997 to 2009, 35,496 patients were identified who underwent surgery for subgingival curettage and/or periodontal flap and are considered the treatment cohort.
Aim: To identify the genes related to lymph node metastasis in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 32 HCC patients with or without lymph node metastasis were investigated by high-throughput microarray comprising 886 genes.
Methods: The samples of cancerous and non-cancerous paired tissue were taken from 32 patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy with lymph node dissection. Total RNA was extracted from the cells obtained by means of laser microdissection (LCM) and was amplified by the T7-based amplification system.
