African swine fever virus (ASFV) causes highly contagious swine disease, African swine fever (ASF), thereby posing a severe socioeconomic threat to the global pig industry and underscoring that effective antiviral therapies are urgently required. To identify safe and efficient anti-ASFV compounds, a natural compound library was screened by performing an established cell-based ELISA in an ASFV-infected porcine alveolar macrophage (PAM) model. In total, 6 effective anti-ASFV compounds with low cytotoxicity were identified.

Background: Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is an acute or subacute infectious disease caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) of genus Capripoxvirus. The outbreaks of LSD were confirmed in the Yili area of the Xinjiang autonomous region in August 2019 and the Fujian province in June 2020. We detected LSDV in our daily monitoring work, then isolated, identified and sequenced the virus, and analyzed the whole genome characteristics of the isolated strain.

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is a severe disease of bovine characterized by nodules on the skin, mucous membranes, and profuse nasal discharge which causes severe economic losses. In October 2020, an LSD outbreak case was found in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. A total of 1,206 cattle were sold from the same imported animal quarantine field to 36 farms after the quarantine period finished, and over 30 farmers reported symptoms such as skin scabs found in newly arrived cattle shortly after that.

It has been reported that there were several "mutant isolated in the field " of African swine fever virus (ASFV) since ASFV was reported, which may be the result of the continuous adaptation and evolution of ASFV. The emergence of ASFV field mutants may lead to chronic or asymptomatic "atypical clinical symptoms" in pigs and hinder the development of porcine industry. Here we analyzed the published ASFV "field attenuated strain" gene sequences and reviewed the genetic differences between field attenuated and virulent ASFV strains, hoping for providing a reference for the scientific prevention and control of ASF and the development of new vaccines.

To explore the biological function of the porcine STC-1 gene, the effects of changes in stanniocalcin expression on cellular metabolism and mitochondrial function were studied.
