Background: Our study aimed to reveal the relationship of maternal pentraxin 3 (PTX3)'s serum concentrations in early pregnancy with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and to explore its potential in the prediction of GDM.

Methods: Totally 824 pregnant women were enrolled and divided into a GDM group and a normal glucose tolerance (NGT) group, whose maternal fasting serum PTX3 levels, plasma glucose and insulin were collected. The beta cell function index and quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) was calculated and a homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was used with SPSS 22 software used for statistical analysis.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is often accompanied by the development of hyperinsulinemia as an adaptation to increased insulin demand, but this subsequently causes insulin resistance. This case study reports on a rare case of a woman with Behcet's disease (BD), uterine malformation and antiphospholipid syndrome, who successfully delivered a baby without any complications during the perinatal period. The woman, who was diagnosed with BD with relapsing oral, ocular, and genital involvement 8 years ago, registered in our clinic with a history of two inevitable miscarriages. Laboratory findings were positive for anti-β -glycoprotein I antibodies (anti-β -GP-I).

Pregnancy associated with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a common and important problem with unique challenges. Pregnant women infected with CHB are different from the general population, and their special problems need to be considered: such as the effect of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on the mother and fetus, the effect of pregnancy on replication of the HBV, whether mothers should take HBV antiviral therapy during pregnancy, the effect of these treatments on the mother and fetus, how to carry out immunization of neonates, whether it can induce hepatitis activity after delivery and other serious issues. At present, there are about 350 million individuals with HBV infection worldwide, of which 50% were infected during the perinatal or neonatal period, especially in HBV-endemic countries.

Purpose: The objectives of this research were to assess the biocompatibility of self-assembled Fe(3)O(4) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) loaded with daunorubicin (DNR), ie, (Fe(3)O(4)-MNPs/DNR), and to explore their potential application in the treatment of hematologic malignancies.

Methods: A hemolysis test was carried out to estimate the hematologic toxicity of Fe(3)O(4)- MNPs/DNR and a micronucleus assay was undertaken to identify its genotoxicity. Fe(3)O(4)-MNPs/ DNR were injected intraperitoneally into mice to calculate the median lethal dose (LD(50)).
