Background: The urinary and sexual outcomes after urethroplasty may be a concern for patients, but there are still some controversies regarding the consequences of buccal mucosal graft urethroplasty (BMG) in terms of erectile dysfunction (ED).

Aim: This meta-analysis aimed to compare urinary and sexual outcomes of BMG and end-to-end urethroplasty (EE).

Methods: The PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, and Embase databases were searched until February 31, 2023.

Donor-derived cell-free DNA as a diagnostic marker for kidney-allograft rejection: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) has emerged as a promising biomarker for detecting graft rejection. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and clinical value of applying it to kidney transplant rejection. Relevant literature on dd-cfDNA diagnostics in kidney transplant rejection was reviewed from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases up to 2023.

Chromogranin A as a diagnostic marker of pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objectives: This work aims to assess the diagnostic value of chromogranin A (CgA) in the laboratory diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors classified as pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL).

Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases to obtain relevant studies reporting the diagnostic accuracy of CgA in patients with PPGL. The search involved studies written in English between the time of library inception and May 1, 2023.

Low risk of erectile dysfunction after nontransecting bulbar urethroplasty for urethral stricture: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Sexual function after urethroplasty may be a concern for patients, but there are still some controversies regarding the consequences of nontransecting bulbar urethroplasty (ntBU) in terms of erectile dysfunction (ED).

Effect of Nonimmune Factors on Renal Prognosis in Adult IgA Vasculitis With Nephritis: A Long-Term Retrospective Cohort Study.

Objective: Adult immunoglobulin A vasculitis (IgAV) is documented to be associated with more renal involvement and poorer renal outcomes compared to children, but adult IgAV nephritis (IgAV-N) data are rather limited. The present study aimed to describe the characteristics of adult IgAV-N and investigate the long-term prognostic factors.

Methods: Clinical and morphological data from 106 adult patients with biopsy-proven IgAV-N and follow-up data from 94 patients in a single Chinese center were analyzed in this retrospective study.

Incidence and risk factors for recurrent focal segmental glomerulosclerosis after kidney transplantation: a meta-analysis.

Aims: To systematically review the incidence and risk factors for recurrent FSGS after kidney transplantation.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Medline, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, CBMdisc, Wanfang, and Weipu for case-control studies related to recurrent FSGS from the establishment until October 2022. The protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42022315448).

Risk factors and management of hyperuricemia after renal transplantation.

Hyperuricemia (HUA) is a common complication after renal transplantation. Currently, there is no uniform consensus on factors which increase the risk for and treatment of HUA in renal transplant recipients. The purpose of this review is to summarize current and proposed risk factors and strategies to manage HUA after renal transplantation in order to assist renal function protection and prolong graft survival time.

Identification of a novel homozygous mutation in a Chinese male with junctional epidermolysis bullosa and severe urethra stenosis: A case report.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a skin fragility disorder that is caused by molecular aberrations in the epidermal basement membrane zone. Based primarily on the cleavage plane within the skin, EB is classified into four major subtypes: EB simplex; junctional EB (JEB); dystrophic EB; and Kindler EB. The junctional form (JEB) can lead to blistering and a variety of extracutaneous complications, including genitourinary tract involvement.

The effect of long intergenic non-protein coding RNAs (lncRNAs) was verified in prostate cancer (PCa), but the mechanism of LINC01146 in PCa is unclear. Bioinformatics was applied to analyze LINC01146 expression in PCa and predict target genes of LINC01146, followed by the verification of qRT-PCR, RNA pull-down and co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP). The correlation between LINC01146 expression and clinicopathological characteristics was investigated.

miRNA-29a targets COL3A1 to regulate the level of type III collagen in pig.

COL3A1 encodes the protein, collagen type III alpha 1, which is an important component of collagen. Collagen can have a considerable effect on the processing quality of meat, and is nutritious. Bioinformatic analysis using Targetscan showed that COL3A1 could be a target gene of miRNA-29a.

The immediate-early response gene 5 (IER5) was previously shown, using microarray analysis, to be upregulated by ionizing radiation. Here we further characterized the dose- and time-dependency of radiation-induced expression of IER5 at doses from 0.5 to 15 Gy by quantitative real-time PCR analyses in HeLa cells and human lymphoblastoid AHH-1 cells.
