Objective: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a severe pulmonary vascular disease that eventually leads to right ventricular failure and death. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism by which pachymic acid (PA) pretreatment affects PH and pulmonary vascular remodeling in rats.

Methods: PH was induced via hypoxia exposure and administration of PA (5 mg/kg per day) in male Sprague-Dawley rats.

Objective: To investigate the molecular mechanism of miR-520a-3p regulating the secretion of cytokines in cervical cancer.

Methods: The matching between miR-520a-3p and the NF-κB complex subunit RELA was analyzed by TargetScanHuman, and then the luciferase reporting system was used to detect whether miR-520a-3p targeted the NF-κB complex subunit RELA. After cervical cancer HELA cells stimulated by LPS, in the overexpression group or the knockout group, miR-520a-3p mimics or inhibitor were mixed with transfection reagent and dripped into HELA cells.

Background: Bisphosphonates have exhibited anti-tumor activity in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We aimed to evaluate whether the combination of bisphosphonates with tyrosine kinase inhibitors of EGFR (EGFR-TKIs) could obtain a synergistic effect on advanced NSCLC patients with EGFR mutations.

Methods: Between January 2008 and October 2013, 114 advanced EGFR mutations NSCLC patients who received EGFR-TKIs as first-line therapy were recruited from two cancer centers.

Background: The prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after curative resection varies greatly. Few studies had investigated the risk factors for early recurrence (recurrence-free time ≤ 1 year) of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCCs meeting Milan criteria.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the 224 patients with HCC meeting Milan criteria who underwent curative liver resection in our center between February 2007 and March 2012.

We report the case of an 80-year-old male with relapsed EGFR exon 19 deletion lung adenocarcinoma treated with EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), but with poor response and rapid increase of serum neuron specific enolase (NSE). Repeat biopsy identified pathological transformation to small cell lung cancers (SCLC) retaining the same EGFR mutation. This case highlights routine serological testing of NSE may benefit for the lung adenocarcinoma patients resistant to TKIs.
