Introduction This case report illustrates the complexities of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) and its thromboembolic complications resulting in top-of-basilar artery syndrome. We discuss the case of a 37-year-old male with ARVC who presented with acute onset of dizziness, imbalance, and vomiting, leading to the diagnosis of a top-of-basilar artery occlusion which was successfully treated. Case presentation This case highlights the diagnostic and acute treatment challenges in basilar artery occlusion (BAO) due to its non-specific symptoms and emphasizes the critical role of CT angiography in detecting occlusive thrombi for timely intervention.

Dissection of the physiological interactomes of histone post-translational modifications (hPTMs) is crucial for understanding epigenetic regulatory pathways. Peptide- or protein-based histone photoaffinity tools expanded the ability to probe the epigenetic interactome, but in situ profiling in native cells remains challenging. Here, we develop a nucleus-targeting histone-tail-based photoaffinity probe capable of profiling the hPTM-mediated interactomes in native cells, by integrating cell-permeable and nuclear localization peptide modules into an hPTM peptide equipped with a photoreactive moiety.

Background: While structured compassion training programs have shown promise for increasing compassion among medical trainees, a major challenge is applying the concepts and practices taught during the program into the complex, dynamic, time-pressured, and often hectic hospital workplace.

Objective: The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of Compassion Coach, a mobile health (mHealth) smartphone app designed to bolster a 6-week mindfulness and self-compassion training program for medical trainees.

Methods: In Compassion Coach, notifications to remind, encourage, and measure the perceived impact of informal mindfulness and compassion practices taught during the program were delivered at 7 AM, 12 PM, and 7 PM, respectively, 3 times per week over the course of the training program.

Nanoscale material systems are central to next-generation optoelectronic and quantum technologies, yet their development remains hindered by limited characterization tools, particularly at terahertz (THz) frequencies. Far-field THz spectroscopy techniques lack the sensitivity for investigating individual nanoscale systems, whereas in near-field THz nanoscopy, surface states, disorder, and sample-tip interactions often mask the response of the entire nanoscale system. Here, we present a THz resonance-amplified near-field spectroscopy technique that can detect subtle conductivity changes in isolated nanoscale systems─such as a single InAs nanowire─under ultrafast photoexcitation.

An algal-bacterial symbiosis (ABS) system was developed on a rotating biological contactor treating mariculture wastewater, and its nitrogen removal, enzymatic activity and metabolic pathways were investigated under different light intensities. The nitrogen removal efficiency increased when light intensities ranged from 20 to 80 μE/(m·s) but declined under 100 μE/(m·s). Higher enzymatic activities under 80 μE/(m·s) facilitated nitrogen conversion, light utilization, ATP supply and photosynthesis.

Addressing the urgent need for effective fracture treatments, this study investigates the efficacy of a 3D bioprinted biomimetic hydrogel, enriched with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and targeted hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (Hif1a) gene activation, in enhancing fracture healing. A photocross-linkable bioink, gelatin methacryloyl bone matrix anhydride (GBMA) is developed, and selected its 5% concentration for bioink formulation. The chemical synthesis of histones with homogeneous modifications is a powerful approach for quantitatively deciphering the functional crosstalk between different post-translational modifications (PTMs). In this study, we developed an expedient site-specific (poly)ubiquitylation strategy (CAEPL, Cysteine Aminoethylation coupled with Enzymatic Protein Ligation), which integrates the Cys-aminoethylation reaction with the process of ubiquitin-activating enzyme UBA1-assisted native chemical ligation. Using this strategy, we successfully prepared monoubiquitylated and K63-linked di- and tri-ubiquitylated linker histone H1.
