Article Synopsis
  • * It introduces a portable access point (PAP) mounted on drones to enhance network service in these areas, focusing on energy efficiency and self-backhauled capabilities.
  • * The use of multi-active/multi-passive parasitic antenna arrays (MAMPs) is highlighted for the PAP, which offers extended range and signal strength with less complexity and lower power consumption compared to traditional MIMO systems.

The next-generation wireless communications require reduced energy consumption, increased data rates and better signal coverage. The millimetre-wave frequency spectrum above 30 GHz can help fulfil the performance requirements of the next-generation mobile broadband systems. Multiple-input multiple-output technology can provide performance gains to help mitigate the increased path loss experienced at millimetre-wave frequencies compared with microwave bands.
