We present a case of a complete external ear amputation, caused by a human bite, that took place during a quarrel in a local farmers' market. The male victim was transferred to the Hospital. After surgical reattachment of the auricle, a forensic clinical examination was performed, as per legal obligation.

Platypnea-orthodeoxia due to fat embolism.

Platypnea-orthodeoxia is an uncommon syndrome that is characterized by dyspnea relieved by recumbency and deoxygenation following a change from a recumbent to an upright posture. We herein describe a case of platypnea-orthodeoxia in a 75-year-old man after a surgical restoration of a bitrochanteric fracture of his right femur. However, in this extremely rare case, none of the current known anatomical or functional conditions which can cause platypnea-orthodeoxia had been diagnosed.

Purpose: The incidence of gastrointestinal metastases from lung cancer is higher than previously thought as they have been reported in 2-14% of the cases in autopsy studies. However, clinically significant metastases are rare. Small bowel perforation secondary to metastatic non-small cell lung cancer is a very rare clinical entity.

Cutaneous metastasis of transitional cell bladder carcinoma: a rare presentation and literature review.

Cutaneous metastasis from transitional cell bladder carcinoma is a rare clinical entity associated with poor prognosis. We present a case of cutaneous metastasis arising from a transitional cell bladder carcinoma in a male patient who had undergone a radical cystectomy and bilateral ureterostomy 17 months previously. The cutaneous metastasis became evident 3 months before the manifestations of generalized recurrent disease.

The effects of tobacco smoking on the incidence and risk of intraoperative and postoperative complications in adults.

This review was conducted with the aim of exploring the effects of preoperative tobacco smoking on the risk of intra- and postoperative complications and to identify the value of preoperative smoking cessation.

Spigelian hernia is a rare hernia of the ventral abdominal wall accounting for 1-2% of all hernias. Incarceration of a Spigelian hernia has been reported in 17-24% of the cases. We herein describe an extremely rare case of a colonic obstruction secondary to an incarcerated Spigelian hernia in a severely obese patient.
