Herein, we report the preparation and characterization of the Group 13 metal complexes of a tripodal tris(nitroxide)-based ligand, designated (TriNOx)M (M = Al (), Ga (), In ()). Complexes and both activate the O-H bond of a range of alcohols spanning a ∼10 p unit range via an element-ligand cooperative pathway to afford the zwitterionic complexes (HTriNOx)M-OR. Structures of these alcohol adduct products are discussed.

Methods: We conducted a multicenter case-control study among hypothermic (rectal temperature <36.
Background: Young infants with serious bacterial infections (SBI) or herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections may present to the emergency department (ED) with hypothermia. We sought to evaluate clinician testing and treatment preferences for infants with hypothermia.
Methods: We developed, piloted, and distributed a survey of ED clinicians from 32 US pediatric hospitals between December 2022 to March 2023.
Purpose: Establishing the psychometric reliability and validity of new measures is an ongoing process. More work is needed in to confirm the clinical utility of the TBI-CareQOL measurement development system in both an independent cohort of caregivers of traumatic brain injury (TBI), as well as in additional caregiver groups.
Methods: An independent cohort of caregivers of people with TBI (n = 139), as well as three new diverse caregiver cohorts (n = 19 caregivers of persons with spinal cord injury, n = 21 caregivers for persons with Huntington disease, and n = 30 caregivers for persons with cancer), completed 11 TBI-CareQOL measures (caregiver strain; caregiver-specific anxiety; anxiety; depression; anger; self-efficacy; positive affect and well-being; perceived stress; satisfaction with social roles and activities; fatigue; sleep-related impairment), as well as two additional measures to examine convergent and discriminant validity (PROMIS Global Health; the Caregiver Appraisal Scale).
As part of an effort to provide standardized criterion measures across the Armed Services, the current research effort developed a set of service-wide criterion measures for first-term enlisted personnel using a recently developed model of cross-service job performance. Two concurrent work streams developed criterion measures which provide complete construct coverage of the cross-service performance model. Using existing service-specific instruments, methods for development of the Cross-Service Situational judgment Test (CSSJT), the Cross-Service Job Performance Ratings Scales (CSPRS), and two cross-service self-report measures (end of training and in unit surveys) are described and discussed.

Methods: We performed a cross sectional study in four academic pediatric EDs from January 2015 through December 2019, including infants ≤90 days old presenting with a rectal temperature of ≤36.4 °C.
Background: Young infants with hypothermia presenting to the emergency department (ED) are at risk for serious bacterial infections (SBI), however there is no consensus temperature to prompt evaluation for SBI among these children. We sought to statistically derive a temperature threshold to guide detection of SBI in young infants with hypothermia presenting to the ED.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study of infants ≤90 days old presenting to four academic paediatric EDs in the United States of America from January 2015 through December 2019 with a rectal temperature of ≤36.
Purpose/objective: The primary objective of this study was to establish the feasibility and acceptability of an intensive data collection protocol that involves the delivery of a personalized just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI) in three distinct groups of care partners (care partners of persons with spinal cord injury [SCI], Huntington's disease [HD], or hematopoietic cell transplantation [HCT]).
Research Method/design: Seventy care partners were enrolled in this study (n = 19 SCI; n = 21 HD, n = 30 HCT). This three-month (90 day) randomized control trial involved wearing a Fitbit to track sleep and steps, providing daily reports of health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and completing end of month HRQOL surveys.
MOXIE [Mars Oxygen In Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) Experiment] is the first demonstration of ISRU on another planet, producing oxygen by solid oxide electrolysis of carbon dioxide in the martian atmosphere. A scaled-up MOXIE would contribute to sustainable human exploration of Mars by producing on-site the tens of tons of oxygen required for a rocket to transport astronauts off the surface of Mars, instead of having to launch hundreds of tons of material from Earth's surface to transport the required oxygen to Mars. MOXIE has produced oxygen seven times between landing in February 2021 and the end of 2021 and will continue to demonstrate oxygen production during night and day throughout all martian seasons.

Design: Cross-sectional survey study.
Setting: Three academic medical centers and a Veterans Affairs treatment facility.
Informal family care partners of persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI) often experience intense stress resulting from their caregiver role. As such, there is a need for low burden, and easy to engage in interventions to improve health-related quality of life (HRQOL) for these care partners. This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a personalized just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI) aimed at improving the HRQOL of care partners.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Care partners (ie, informal family caregivers) of individuals with health problems face considerable physical and emotional stress, often with a substantial negative impact on the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of both care partners and care recipients. Given that these individuals are often overwhelmed by their caregiving responsibilities, low-burden self-management interventions are needed to support care partners to ensure better patient outcomes.
Objective: The primary objective of this study is to describe an intensive data collection protocol that involves the delivery of a personalized just-in-time adaptive intervention that incorporates passive mobile sensor data feedback (sleep and activity data from a Fitbit [Fitbit LLC]) and real time self-reporting of HRQOL via a study-specific app called CareQOL (University of Michigan) to provide personalized feedback via app alerts.
Purpose/objective: Polypharmacy is common in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). Given the high rates of medication use, and the complicated side effect profile of many of the medications that are regularly prescribed in people with SCI, we were interested in the association between the use of different classes of medications and cognitive function in these individuals. Research Method/Design: One-hundred and 73 people with SCI participated in an observational study.

Research Method/Design: One hundred seventy-four community-dwelling adults with spinal cord injury completed several self-reported measures of health-related quality of life (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System [PROMIS] Cognitive Abilities, Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue, and Pain Intensity) as well as a traditional neuropsychological assessment (six tests that included assessments of processing speed, working memory, memory, executive function, and attention). A series of multivariable linear regressions were used to test for associations between physical and mental symptoms and the seven ratings of cognition (i.

We sought to determine the impact of referring eligible patients to CR centers closer to home or workplace on overall participation rate.
Methods: An observational review was conducted in patients from a large cardiovascular program who were referred to CR (January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2016).
Background: Outpatient anticoagulation clinics were initially developed to care for patients taking vitamin K antagonists such as warfarin. There has not been a systematic evaluation of the barriers and facilitators to integrating direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) care into outpatient anticoagulation clinics.
Methods: We performed a mixed methods study consisting of an online survey of anticoagulation clinic providers and semi-structured interviews with anticoagulation clinic leaders and managers between March and May of 2017.
Background: Periprocedural antithrombotic medication management is a complex, often confusing process for patients and their providers. Communication difficulties often lead to suboptimal medication management, resulting in delayed or canceled procedures.
Methods: We conducted telephone surveys with patients taking chronic antithrombotic medications who had recently undergone an endoscopy procedure.
Background: The impact on health-care costs and utilization of a single out-of-range (OOR) INR value not associated with bleeding or thromboembolic complication among chronic warfarin-treated patients is not well described.
Methods: At four large phone-based anticoagulation clinics (total 14 948 patients), warfarin-treated patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or venous thromboembolism were retrospectively propensity matched into an OOR INR group (n = 116) and a control group (n = 58). Types and frequency of contacts (eg, phone, voicemail, facsimile) and personnel involved were identified.
Many anticoagulation clinics have adapted their services to provide care for patients taking direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) in addition to traditional warfarin management. Anticoagulation clinic scope of service and operations in this transitional environment have not been well described in the literature. A survey was conducted of United States-based Anticoagulation Forum members to inquire about anticoagulation clinic structure, function, and services provided.
