The COVID-19 pandemic affects populations worldwide without distinction. Large-scale RT-PCR testing was proposed to the populations to promote early diagnosis and management. The absence of publications related to COVID-19/Congo testing justified this study.

Randomized controlled trial of pegbovigrastim as an adjunct therapy for naturally occurring severe clinical mastitis cases in dairy cows.

The main objective of this study was to quantify the effect of pegbovigrastim (PEG) as an adjunct therapy for naturally occurring severe mastitis cases on survival, intramammary bacteriological cure, and subsequent milk production. A double-blinded, randomized controlled trial was conducted on a single commercial dairy farm. During the study period, all cows having a case of severe clinical mastitis, defined as the presence of abnormal milk and inflammation in one quarter or more combined with the presence of systemic signs (pyrexia, dehydration, or recumbency), were enrolled in the study.

Development of a mucinous adenocarcinoma on a sigmoid colpoplasty for vaginal agenesis: About a case report and review of the literature.

We report a case of mucinous adenocarcinoma developed on sigmoid colpoplasty, performed for a congenital agenesis vaginal. The cancer development of neovagina remains exceptional. Its management consists, in the majority of cases, in surgery for a complete excision.

Evaluation of silk-based bioink during pre and post 3D bioprinting: A review.

During past few decades, the demand for the replacement of damaged organs is increasing consistently. This is due to the advancement in tissue engineering, which opens the possibility of regeneration of damaged organs or tissues into functional parts with the help of 3D bioprinting. Bioprinting technology presents an excellent potential to develop complex structures with precise control over cell suspension and structure.

Effect of immunoadsorption alone or combined with membrane filtration on hemostasis parameters.

Introduction: ABO- or HLA-incompatible kidney transplantation is possible thanks to pretransplant antibody-depletion achieved by extracorporeal-treatment modalities. These methods induce depletion of some plasma proteins and may also impact on proteins involved in hemostasis.

Establishing a Reproducible Murine Animal Model of Single Anastomosis Duodenoileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADl-S).

Single-anastomosis duodenoileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) is a simplified biliopancreatic diversion. The objective of this study was to develop a reproducible animal model for SADI-S. We used three techniques for duodenal exclusion and duodenoileal anastomosis: (a) surgical clip and side-to-side anastomosis, (b) ligation and side-to-side anastomosis and (c) sectioning the duodenum, closing the duodenal stump and end-to-side anastomosis.

French validation and adaptation of the Grobman nomogram for prediction of vaginal birth after cesarean delivery.

Objective: To validate Grobman nomogram for predicting vaginal birth after cesarean delivery (VBAC) in a French population and adapt it.

Glycosaminoglycans, protein aggregation and neurodegeneration.

A number of neurodegenerative diseases, as Parkinson, prion, and Alzheimer's diseases, has been directly associated with altered conformations of certain peptides or proteins that assemble to form highly organized aggregates, also called amyloid fibers. Glycosaminoglycans have shown to play important roles on fibrils formation, stability and resistance to proteolysis. This manuscript reviews from basic concepts on the biochemistry and biology of glycosaminoglycans to their implications in neurodegeneration with particular emphasis in pathologic protein aggregation.

Protein extraction and fingerprinting optimization of bacterial communities in natural environment.

Recent development in molecular approaches allows access to genetic structure and diversity of indigenous microbial communities. In contrast, the functional analysis of microorganisms in their environment is still hampered by methodological limitations. Analysis of total proteins expressed at the whole community level (metaproteome) has been proposed to characterize the functional structure of microbial communities in their environment.

The right temporal lobe variant of frontotemporal dementia: cognitive and neuroanatomical profile of three patients.

The right temporal variant of frontotemporal lobar degeneration (Rtv-FTLD) is a focal degenerative condition affecting predominantly the right temporal lobe. The aim of this study was to further characterize the profile of cognitive impairment and the neuroanatomical basis of Rtv-FTLD patients without behavioural disturbances. A group of three patients with this syndrome had a detailed neuropsychological assessment, along with Voxel-Based Morphometry (VBM) of their brain to determine location of cortical atrophy.

Mitochondria: a target for neuroprotective interventions in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.

Evidence obtained over the past two decades shows that reactive oxygen species (ROS) are involved in brain lesions, including those due to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. The mitochondria are the primary intracellular source of ROS, as they generate huge numbers of oxidative-reduction reactions and use massive amounts of oxygen. When anoxia is followed promptly by reperfusion, the resulting increase in oxygen supply leads to overproduction of ROS.

Induction of syngeneic intradermal and orthotopic epidermal carcinomas in hairless Skh-1 mice as a reproducible model for experiments.

Epidermoid carcinomas, clinically and histologically similar to human squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), were obtained in hairless Skh-1 mice. Tumor cells originated from chemically-induced skin cancers. We developed three models of orthotopic skin tumors: (1) intradermal injection of a tumor cell suspension, (2) superficial abrasion of the skin, cell grafting and application of a hydrocolloid dressing, (3) skin incision, seeding and application of a hydrocolloid dressing.

Iliac atherosclerotic occlusive disease complicating radiation therapy for cervix cancer: a case series.

Background: Diagnosis and management of atherosclerotic occlusive disease complicating radiation therapy for squamous carcinoma of the cervix (SCC) are not well known.

Cases: A series of four patients who underwent medical or surgical treatment of radiation-induced artery disease were identified. Chronic right iliac artery occlusion was seen in one patient 7 years after external irradiation for SCC and was treated by a femorofemoral bypass.

[Para-esophageal hiatal hernia with acute gastric volvulus].

We report 3 observations of acute gastric volvulus on paraesophageal hiatus hernia requiring emergency laparotomy. The main characteristics of this complication of hiatus hernia are described and the importance of early diagnosis, because of unfavorable prognosis, is stressed.
