The use of lipofilling to treat congenital hypoplastic breast anomalies: preliminary experiences.

Background: Treatment options for congenital hypoplastic breast anomalies are often open, including radial scoring, parenchymal flaps, and insertion of expanders and implants. Drawbacks of open techniques involve scarring, the use of drains, and inpatient stays. The use of lipofilling to treat breast deformities is increasing, as more research is completed in this area.

Invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast: MRI pathological correlation following bilateral total mastectomy.

Background: Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is more often multifocal and bilateral than invasive ductal carcinoma. MRI is usually recommended for detection of all ILC sites. The performance of known diagnostic breast MRI criteria for ILC characterization has not been evaluated to date using bilateral mastectomy specimens as gold standard.

Management of chest wall reconstruction after resection for cancer: a retrospective study of 22 consecutive patients.

Aim: In this study, we report our experience on immediate reconstruction after resection of primary or metastatic chest wall tumors, to restore protective function and elasticity of chest or sternum.

Methods: Between 2005 and 2009, 22 patients underwent reconstruction using a free or pedicled flap combined, or not, to alloplastic materials (Goretex®) in order to cover full-thickness defects of the chest wall after cancer surgery. Reconstruction was immediate in all cases.

[Breast reconstruction after mastectomy].

Classically made by means of implants, the progress of plastic surgery allows henceforth to reconstruct breast with own tissues of the patients without morbidity on the donor zone, the DIEP. Fibrin sealant decreases postoperative drainage in immediate breast reconstruction by deep inferior epigastric perforator flap after mastectomy with axillary dissection.

Background: Serosanguinous drainage after breast reconstruction by deep inferior epigastric perforator flap (DIEP) can limit patient's discharge. We introduced fibrin sealant in immediate breast reconstruction by DIEP flap to reduce drainage after mastectomy with axillary dissection.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 is a genetic and ubiquitous disease, with an estimated incidence of one in 3000 live births. Neurofibromas, defined as various benign tumors, are hallmarks of the disease. Facial plexiform or diffuse neurofibromas usually occur unilaterally and can induce facial hemihypertrophy.
