- Neoadjuvant short-term radiotherapy (SRT-delay) may effectively downsize tumors in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer who cannot tolerate conventional chemoradiation.
- Between March 2018 and July 2021, a study involving 26 patients showed significant reductions in tumor size and volume after SRT-delay, with a mean diameter decrease from 54.1 mm to 25.5 mm prior to surgery.

Background: Peritoneal lavage is often used for peritonitis, however, the volume and type of lavage fluid varies. Saline or Ringer's solution are used most often and lavage is performed until the fluid is clear. However, at present there is no irrigation fluid for peritoneal lavage with residual antiseptic activity.
