SMKD: Selective Mutual Knowledge Distillation.

Mutual knowledge distillation (MKD) is a technique used to transfer knowledge between multiple models in a collaborative manner. However, it is important to note that not all knowledge is accurate or reliable, particularly under challenging conditions such as label noise, which can lead to models that memorize undesired information. This problem can be addressed by improving the reliability of the knowledge source, as well as selectively selecting reliable knowledge for distillation.

Creative metacognition in design thinking: exploring theories, educational practices, and their implications for measurement.

Design thinking is a well-established practical and educational approach to fostering high-level creativity and innovation, which has been refined since the 1950s with the participation of experts like Joy Paul Guilford and Abraham Maslow. Through real-world projects, trainees learn to optimize their creative outcomes by developing and practicing creative cognition and metacognition. This paper provides a holistic perspective on creativity, enabling the formulation of a comprehensive theoretical framework of creative metacognition.

Generative multi-adversarial network for striking the right balance in abdominal image segmentation.

Purpose The identification of abnormalities that are relatively rare within otherwise normal anatomy is a major challenge for deep learning in the semantic segmentation of medical images. The small number of samples of the minority classes in the training data makes the learning of optimal classification challenging, while the more frequently occurring samples of the majority class hamper the generalization of the classification boundary between infrequently occurring target objects and classes. In this paper, we developed a novel generative multi-adversarial network, called Ensemble-GAN, for mitigating this class imbalance problem in the semantic segmentation of abdominal images.

Evaluation of the Technology Acceptance of a Collaborative Documentation System for Addiction Therapists and Clients.

Addiction treatment outcomes are strongly determined by relational factors. We present the interactive documentation system Tele-Board MED (TBM) developed as an adjunct to therapy sessions aimed at enhancing the therapeutic alliance and patient empowerment. The objective of this work is to find factors that predict the acceptance of TBM in face-to-face addiction treatment sessions.

Establishing Therapeutic Alliance in Mental Health Care via Cooperative Documentation.

In talk-based mental health interventions, treatment outcomes can be decisively improved by enhancing the relationship between patient and therapist. We developed the interactive documentation system Tele-Board MED (TBM) with the goal of supporting patients and doctors in their cooperative task of patient care. The system offers a whiteboard-inspired graphical user interface which allows them to take notes jointly during the treatment session.

Juggling Doctor and Patient Needs in Mental Health Record Design.

Providing patients access to mental health records is a controversial topic that gains growing attention in research and practice. While it has great potential in increasing the patient engagement, skepticism is prevailing among therapists who fear detrimental effects and face a lack of feasibility when treatment notes are handwritten. We aim at empowering both therapists to new documentation approaches and patients to higher engagement, and develop the collaborative documentation system Tele-Board MED (TBM) as an adjunct to talk-based mental health interventions.

Patient-Provider Teamwork via Cooperative Note Taking on Tele-Board MED.

There is significant, unexploited potential to improve the patients' engagement in psychotherapy treatment through technology use. We develop Tele-Board MED (TBM), a digital tool to support documentation and patient-provider collaboration in medical encounters. Our objective is the evaluation of TBM's practical effects on patient-provider relationships and patient empowerment in the domain of talk-based mental health interventions.

A design thinking approach to effective vaccine safety communication.

The highly complex and controversial topic of vaccine safety communication warrants innovative, user-centered solutions that would start with gaining mutual respect while taking into account the needs, concerns and underlying motives of patients, parents and physicians. To this end, a non-profit collaborative project was conducted by The Vienna Vaccine Safety Initiative, an international think tank aiming to promote vaccine safety research and communication, and the School of Design Thinking in Potsdam, Germany, the first school for innovation in Europe. The revolutionary concept of the Design Thinking approach is to group students in small multi-disciplinary teams.

Supporting talk-based mental health interventions with digital whiteboards.

The potential of mental health interventions supported by computers has rarely been explored to date, and the use of technology has hence been limited. There is a need for finding new ways of providing engaging psychotherapy services. We introduce the digital whiteboard system Tele-Board MED (TBM) as a new approach of promoting patient-therapist interaction and joint documentation.
