Manifest heart failure impairs all dimensions of health-related quality of life (HRQOL). However, the role of HRQOL in patients with risk factors for the development of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is only poorly understood. In this post-hoc analysis of the DIAST-CHF observational study, we tested the hypothesis whether a lower HRQOL at baseline is prognostically associated with an increase in cardiovascular events during follow-up in elderly patients with a cardiovascular risk profile.
