Global trends indicate that takeaway food is commonly accessible in neighbourhood food environments. Local governments in England can use spatial planning to manage the opening of new takeaway outlets in 'takeaway management zones around schools' (known sometimes as 'exclusion zones'). We analysed data from the 2021 International Food Policy Study to investigate public acceptability of takeaway management zones around schools.

Iohexol plasma clearance measurement protocol standardization for adults: a consensus paper of the European Kidney Function Consortium.

International consensus supports the development of standardized protocols for measured glomerular filtration rate (mGFR) to facilitate the integration of mGFR testing in both clinical and research settings. To this end, the European Kidney Function Consortium convened an international group of experts with relevant experience in mGFR. The working group performed an extensive literature search to inform the development of recommendations for mGFR determination using 1-compartment plasma clearance models and iohexol as the exogenous filtration marker.

Aguas frescas may be a significant component of sugary-drink intake among Mexican and Mexican-American (MA) adults. However, it is unclear whether survey respondents report aguas frescas consumption when it is not specifically queried in standardized beverage frequency instruments.

Aim: Online food delivery services (OFDS) are popular for purchasing meals prepared outside home, increasing access to energy-dense and nutrient-poor foods. This adversely impacts dietary choices and health outcomes. Our study examined trends in OFDS use in Australia, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US) from 2018 to 2021.

Derivation and Validation of a Machine Learning Model for the Prevention of Unplanned Dialysis.

Key Points: Nearly half of all patients with CKD who progress to kidney failure initiate dialysis in an unplanned fashion, which is associated with poor outcomes. Background: Marketing of unhealthy foods to children on digital media significantly impacts their dietary preferences and contributes to diet-related noncommunicable diseases. Canadian children spend a significant amount of time on digital devices and are frequently exposed to unhealthy food marketing on social media, including by influencers with celebrity status who endorse products. This study aimed to examine the frequency, healthfulness, and power of unhealthy food marketing in posts by influencers popular with Canadian children on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.

Sociodemographic differences in nutrition labels effect on Chilean and Mexican youth.

Objective: To examine sociodemographic differences in the awareness, understanding, use and effect of nutrition labels among Mexican and Chilean youth.

Methods: Online surveys among youth (10-17 years) were obtained in 2019 (n=2631). Participants reported their awareness, understanding, and use of their country-specific nutrition facts tables (NFT) and front-of-pack labels (FOPL) (Chile: warning labels [WLs]; Mexico: guideline daily amounts [GDA]).

Androgen receptors are expressed in the kidney and serum testosterone is negatively associated with serum phosphate in males, suggesting a role of testosterone in renal phosphate handling. In this cross-sectional study, we examined the association of serum total and free testosterone with acute phosphate and calcium excretion in males in response to an oral phosphate challenge. Thirty-five healthy adult males with normal baseline testosterone levels consumed a 500 mg phosphorus drink and the urinary excretion of minerals, as well as levels of relevant circulating parameters, were assessed at baseline and hourly for 4 h.

Ependymoma-like tumor with mesenchymal differentiation (ELTMD) with ZFTA:NCOA1 fusion: A diagnostic challenge.

Ependymal tumors are classified based on their location, histology, and molecular characteristics. Supratentorial ependymomas (ST-EPNs) are a group of circumscribed supratentorial gliomas, which usually have pathogenic fusions involving either zinc finger translocation associated (ZFTA) (formerly C11orf95) or YAP1. A subtype of ependymoma was recently described and labeled ependymoma-like tumors with mesenchymal differentiation (ELTMDs).
