Background: Elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) has improved health and increased life expectancy in many patients with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). Family planning issues have become more important since then. Many women decide to remain on modulator therapy during pregnancy despite insufficient evidence-based recommendations for continuing ETI during pregnancy and lactation.

Extraskeletal osteosarcoma infiltrating pancreas, spleen, gastric, and left kidney: a case report.

Background: Extraskeletal osteosarcoma is an extremely rare malignancy that accounts for 1% of soft tissue sarcoma and 4.3% of all osteosarcoma. Extraskeletal osteosarcoma can develop in a patient between the ages of 48 and 60 years.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the preparedness of healthcare facilities of Manipur in the management of NCDs and to assess the knowledge of doctors regarding NCDs.

Brief Report: Virologic Impact of the Dolutegravir Transition: Prospective Results From the Multinational African Cohort Study.

Background: The real-world impact on viral suppression of switching from non-dolutegravir-based therapy to tenofovir/lamivudine/dolutegravir (TLD) is not thoroughly characterized in Africa. We described the virologic consequences of switching regimens in the African Cohort Study (AFRICOS), an observational cohort in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Methods: Among antiretroviral-experienced people living with HIV (PLWH) in AFRICOS, we compared viral load (VL) nonsuppression (VL ≥ 1000 copies/mL) among those who switched with those who never switched to TLD, restricting to participants who had at least 1 visit with a recorded VL after the countrywide rollout of TLD.

Background: Vaccine hesitancy has been recognized as a public health issue which needs to be addressed urgently. Pregnant women with COVID-19 are at increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. An assessment of the determinants of vaccine hesitancy will aid in the acceleration of vaccine administration among pregnant women.

Co-composting of biochar and nitrogen-poor organic residues: Nitrogen losses and fate of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Composting recycles nutrients and biodegrades organic pollutants, but often results in N leaching. Biochar can enhance the composting process and reduce N losses. Research, however, has focused on composting N-rich residues; also, information on the fate of biochar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) during composting is scarce.

Implementation of the cognitive apprenticeship model for enhancement of advanced searching skills in a pharmacy academia rotation.

Background: Pharmacy students are primarily taught literature searching skills didactically during their Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. To effect change in the area of advanced literature searching skills, a pharmacy librarian joined with two Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) preceptors to design and implement a crash course on applied systematic searching skills for a cohort of four students.

Case Presentation: Through the cognitive apprenticeship model, a Systematic Searching Crash Course (SSCC) was implemented among a cohort of four academic APPE students.

Complete resolution of constrictive pericarditis after coronary bypass surgery.

Classical constrictive pericarditis (CP) is an unusual and rare complication after coronary artery bypass grafting. It can be transient, progressive or fixed form of cardiac constriction. However recently recognized transient variant of constrictive pericarditis can be managed with medical therapy, though other progressive and irreversible forms may require pericardiectomy.

Genome editing in the human liver: Progress and translational considerations.

Liver-targeted genome editing offers the prospect of life-long therapeutic benefit following a single treatment and is set to rapidly supplant conventional gene addition approaches. Combining progress in liver-targeted gene delivery with genome editing technology, makes this not only feasible but realistically achievable in the near term. However, important challenges remain to be addressed.

The bidirectional relationships between peer victimization and internalizing problems in school-aged children: An updated systematic review and meta-analysis.

The current research examined the bidirectional effects between internalizing problems and peer victimization within a meta-analytic framework. The study also investigated several potential moderators of these effects which have not been examined previously in relation to meta-analytic studies. Only longitudinal studies examining the association between internalizing symptoms and peer victimization from five online databases were included and after screening 7,122 articles, 85 studies were included with a total of 117,520 participants.

H NMR study of the phase behavior of aqueous eutectic solutions using the inverse Laplace transform analysis of T relaxation.

High-field H NMR T relaxation studies were used to characterize the changes in the physical phases of water, NaCl, and dextrose solutions over a temperature range of -65 to 15 °C. The data were analyzed with the inverse Laplace transform and with a linear fit to the logarithm of the time domain signal. Two liquid phases were detected for the NaCl and dextrose solutions at lower temperatures and assigned to low and high concentrated solution domains.

Emergence of HIV-1 drug-resistant variants in women following antiretroviral prophylaxis for the prevention of mother to child transmission.

Purpose: Emergence of drug resistance following HIV prophylaxis has an important impact on ART program.

Objective: To investigate the emergence of drug resistance in HIV-1 infected pregnant women.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-three HIV-1 infected pregnant women who had received 4-12 weeks of antenatal AZT followed by Nevirapine during delivery and Combivir [AZT + 3TC] for 1 week postpartum (group-1, n = 48) or who come at the time of delivery and received Nevirapine followed by Combivir for 1 week (group-2, n = 5) were recruited.

In recent years, the UK retail sector has made a significant contribution to societal responses on carbon reduction. We provide a novel and timely examination of environmental sustainability from a systems perspective, exploring how energy-related technologies and strategies are incorporated into organisational life. We use a longitudinal case study approach, looking at behavioural energy efficiency from within one of the UK's leading retailers.

Medication level variability index predicts rejection, possibly due to nonadherence, in adult liver transplant recipients.

Nonadherence to immunosuppressants may play a role in late rejection in liver transplant recipients. In children, emerging data suggest that adherence can be measured through the computation of the standard deviation (SD) of consecutive blood levels of tacrolimus, which results in a number that reflects the degree of variability between individual measures: the medication level variability index (MLVI). A higher MLVI value means erratic immunosuppression, likely due to less adherence.

Aim: Our aim was to detect the adverse effects of smoking on arterial wall thickness and arterial wall stiffness in young, healthy university students.

Question: Does only a few years of smoking result in measurable vascular alterations in healthy young people?

Methods: We measured the intima-media thickness (IMT) on both common carotids by means of carotid ultrasound, then we examined the stiffnessparameters of the blood vessels (pulse wave velocity, PWV; augmentation index, Aix) with the help of arteriograph.

Subjects: We recruited 25 smoking and 25 non-smoking young volunteers aged 19-33 for our examinations.

Background:   The concept of nursing power has not been extensively reported in the nursing literature. Power is an extremely abstract concept, making it difficult to define and study. However, when defined as the capacity to achieve goals, power becomes a significant resource in nursing.

HIV-1 seroprevalence and awareness of mother-to-child transmission issues among women seeking antenatal care in Tamil Nadu, India.

Background: Despite increasing availability of HIV-1 testing, education, and methods to prevent transmission, Indian women and their children remain at risk of acquiring HIV. We assessed the seroprevalence and awareness about HIV among pregnant women presenting to a private tertiary care hospital in South India.

Methods: Seroprevalence was determined via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) testing, and questionnaires were analyzed using chi-square statistics and odds ratios to look for factors associated with HIV positivity.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia with PML-RARA fusion on i(17q) and therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia.

We describe a patient with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and the karyotype 46,XX,i(17)(q10) with PML-RARA fusion gene detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and nested reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). FISH using dual-color translocation probes for PML (promyelocytic leukemia) and RARA (retinoic acid receptor-alpha) showed fusion signal for PML-RARA on both arms of i(17q). The patient attained complete remission (CR) with all-trans retinoic acid treatment and became PML-RARA negative.
