Flow cytometry enables the identification and characterization of markers present on the cell membrane as well as those that manifest intracellularly. With the increasing number of available reagents for targeting the markers of interest and evolving technology, it has become possible to detect an increasing number of markers expressed by single cells during one single analysis. This provides the possibility of investigating cell-to-cell patterns, variations, and correlations.
