Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the imaging characteristics of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) using [18F]fluoride positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for preoperative assessment and to correlate them with microarchitectural and histomorphometric data with respect to clinical findings.
Methods: Twelve patients (five female; mean age 75 ± 7.6 yr) with symptomatic MRONJ underwent both scans on the same day, and imaging findings were used to plan surgical interventions for seven patients.
Purpose: To investigate the impact of [F]FDG-PET/CT on the management of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) in routine clinical settings.
Material And Methods: In total, 98 patients (55 females, age 56 ± 18 years) with histologically confirmed thyroid cancer, including all types of DTC and poorly differentiated thyroid cancer (PDTC, n = 7), underwent [F]FDG-PET/CT for staging or recurrence diagnostics performed using a state-of-the art clinical scanner (Biograph mCT, Siemens Healthineers) with a standardized examination protocol. The impact of PET/CT on clinical decision making was prospectively evaluated using standardized questionnaires completed by the referring physicians before and after PET/CT.
Actinic keratosis (AK) are common lesions in light-skinned individuals that can potentially progress to cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). Both conditions may be associated with significant morbidity and constitute a major disease burden, especially among the elderly. To establish an evidence-based framework for clinical decision making, the guideline "actinic keratosis and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma" was updated and expanded by the topics cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in situ (Bowen's disease) and actinic cheilitis.

We analyzed 52 PET/CTs in 47 stage I-IV breast cancer patients, selected from a prospective oncological PET/CT registry. Indications for PET/CT were primary staging ( = 15), restaging ( = 17), and suspected recurrence ( = 20).

Methods: Patients with GCTs were prospectively enrolled into a PET/CT registry study between May 2013 and April 2021. Intended patient management prior and after PET/CT was documented using standardized questionnaires.
We describe a publicly available dataset of annotated Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) studies. 1014 whole body Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET/CT datasets (501 studies of patients with malignant lymphoma, melanoma and non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and 513 studies without PET-positive malignant lesions (negative controls)) acquired between 2014 and 2018 were included. All examinations were acquired on a single, state-of-the-art PET/CT scanner.

For this purpose, predictive baseline biomarkers are becoming increasingly important for risk stratification and personalized treatment planning. Thus, the aim of this pilot study was the development of a prognostic tool for the risk stratification of the treatment response and mortality based on PET/MRI and PET/CT, including a convolutional neural network (CNN) for metastasized-melanoma patients before systemic-treatment initiation.

We present results of a randomized phase II trial on hypoxia dose escalation (DE) in LASCCHN based on dynamic [F]FMISO (dynFMISO) positron emission tomography (PET). The purpose was to confirm the prognostic value of hypoxia PET and assess feasibility, toxicity and efficacy of hypoxia-DE.

As patients with pulmonary diseases have limited breath-hold capacities, this study investigates the clinical feasibility of non-Cartesian Spiral VIBE under free-breathing compared to CT as the gold standard.
Methods: Prospective analysis of 27 oncological patients examined in PET/CT and PET/MR.
Objective: To determine the impact of F-FDG-PET/CT on clinical management of patients with cholangiocellular carcinoma (CCA).
Methods: Patients with CCA undergoing clinically indicated F-FDG-PET/CT between 04/2013 and 08/2018 were prospectively included in a local PET/CT registry study. Intended clinical management ("non-treatment" such as watchful-waiting or additional diagnostic tests, and "palliative" or "curative treatment") was recorded before and after PET/CT.
Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a serious side effect in antiresorptive treatment. Treatment of MRONJ is considered primarily conservative with oral mouth rinses and antibiotics but may demand surgery, depending on the complaints and general condition of the patient, the extent of the necrosis, and the overall prognosis with respect to the underlying disease. A 77 year old female patient with invasive ductal breast cancer and bone metastases was treated with intravenous bisphosphonate (BP) zoledronic acid.

Methods: A patient cohort with advanced esophageal cancer undergoing PET/CT was prospectively enrolled in a registry study between 04/2013 and 06/2019. Intended patient management prior and after PET/CT was documented based on standardized questionnaire data.
The determinants of brown adipose tissue (BAT) activity are not yet known in detail but might serve as future therapeutic targets against obesity and the metabolic syndrome. We analyzed 235 datasets of lymphoma patients with two PET/CT examinations at different time points retrospectively. We assessed the anthropometric characteristics, features related to the metabolic syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, season of the PET/CT examination, weight change, prior cancer history, lymphoma subgroups, disease activity, and specific lymphoma-related therapies, and evaluated their association with BAT activity.

Here, we investigate the stratification potential of CT-radiomics in head and neck cancer (HNC) patients and test if CT-radiomics is a surrogate predictor for hypoxia as identified by PET.
Materials And Methods: Two independent cohorts of HNC patients were used for model development and validation, HN1 (n = 149) and HN2 (n = 47).
Purpose: To evaluate the potential of CT texture analysis parameters and metabolic characteristics of melanoma metastases in F- FDG PET/CT to predict relevant mutations of tumour cells for targeted therapy in metastatic melanoma patients in correlation with histopathologic specimen.
Material And Methods: 66 melanoma patients, examined with contrast-enhanced F-FDG PET/CT before scheduled metastasectomy without any prior systemic therapy, were included in this single-centre retrospective analysis under IRB waiver. The largest, resected metastasis in each patient was assessed with CT texture analysis and semiquantitative F-FDG PET parameters.
Response assessment or prediction to checkpoint inhibitor therapy (CIT) is an unsolved problem in current routine diagnostics of patients with melanoma. Here, we evaluated very early changes of primary and secondary lymphoid organs under CIT in multiparametric [F]-labeled fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (F-FDG-PET)/MRI as possible predictors of treatment response and investigated their correlation with baseline blood immune biomarkers. Between October 2014 and November 2017, 17 patients with unresectable melanoma (8 females; 65±11 years) undergoing CIT were prospectively evaluated using whole-body F-FDG-PET/MRI before CIT start (t), 2 weeks (t) and 3 months after CIT initiation (t).

Methods: A patient cohort with advanced melanoma undergoing F-FDG-PET/CT for planning metastasectomy between 04/2013 and 01/2015 was retrospectively included. The volumetric PET parameters whole-body MTV and whole-body TLG as well as the standard uptake value (SUV) peak were quantified using 50%-isocontour volumes of interests (VOIs) and then correlated with the serologic parameters lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), S-100 protein, c-reactive protein (CRP) and alkaline phosphatase (AP).
Since the clinical introduction of PET/CT in the year of 2001 and PET/MRI in the year of 2010, hybrid imaging-guided precision medicine has become an important component of diagnostic algorithms in oncology. The written report represents the primary mode of communication between the referring physician and both the nuclear medicine physician and the radiologist. Reports have considerable impact on patient management and patient outcome, and serve as a legal documentation of the services provided and the expert impression of the interpreting physician.
