Introduction: Service members with traumatic amputations may be at an increased risk of elevated core body temperature, since their ability to dissipate heat may decrease with the reduction in body surface area (BSA) after injury. Elevated core temperature can impair physical performance during combat operations potentially putting the service members and their teams at risk. The purpose of this study was to compare core temperature between individuals with and without amputations during a prolonged endurance event.
