Oral Motor Impairments Contribute to Weight Status of Adults with Severe Cerebral Palsy.

Adults with severe cerebral palsy (CP) are susceptible to malnutrition and metabolic disorders due to limited daily physical activity and challenges related to eating. We hypothesized that the condition of being underweight arises from inadequate energy intake due to difficulties in eating, rather than heightened total energy expenditure or an elevated resting metabolic rate. The present study encompassed 17 adults with severe CP (classified as GMFSC III-V).

Qualitative exploration of the perceptions of exercise in patients with cancer initiated during chemotherapy: a meta-synthesis.

Objective: To synthesise qualitative literature on (1) the perceptions of patients with cancer of participating in an exercise intervention while undergoing chemotherapy and (2) to inform and guide professionals in oncology and haematology practice.

Design: A qualitative meta-synthesis based on Noblit and Hare's seven-step meta-ethnography.

Can online and app-based interventions be used by people with diabetes to reduce diabetes distress? A protocol for a scoping review.

Introduction: Diabetes distress has been defined as "the negative emotional or affective experience resulting from the challenge of living with the demands of diabetes". Diabetes distress affects 20%-25% of individuals living with diabetes and can have negative effects on both diabetes regulation and quality of life. For people living with diabetes distress, innovative tools/interventions such as online or app-based interventions may potentially alleviate diabetes distress in a cost-effective way.

Effect of oral health interventions for dependent older people-A systematic review.

Background: There is an increasing proportion of older people in the population worldwide, with a large group being dependent on the care of others. Dependent older people are more vulnerable to oral diseases, which can heavily impact their quality of life (OHRQoL) and general health.

Objective: The purpose of this systematic review was to comprehensively assess interventions to improve oral health or guarantee access and adherence to dental treatment of dependent older people.

Individual differences in empathy in Danish university students: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Empathy is widely recognized as a multi-dimensional construct, involving emotional and cognitive components. These may cause distinct experiences and behaviors that can be both beneficial and deleterious to individuals' well-being and mental health.

The Importance of Feasibility Assessment in the Design of ctDNA Guided Trials - Results From the OPTIPAL II Study.

Introduction: Both quantitative and molecular changes in ctDNA can hold important information when treating metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), but its clinical utility is yet to be established. Before conducting a large-scale randomized trial, it is essential to test feasibility. This study investigates whether ctDNA is feasible for detecting patients who will benefit from treatment with epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors and the prognostic value of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) response.

High-intensity interval training and thromboembolic events during chemotherapy for testicular cancer: a retrospective analysis from the cohort.

Men with testicular cancer receiving platinum-based chemotherapy have an increased risk of thromboembolic events, with incidence rates between 8-24%. A recent trial evaluating the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) prematurely closed as three out of nine participants (33%) in the intervention group developed a thromboembolic event. The purpose of this retrospective cohort study was: 1) (primary) to evaluate the incidence of thromboembolic events in men receiving chemotherapy for testicular cancer who had participated in HIIT during a 6-week exercise program ( 2) to describe the feasibility of this program.

Scale-Up of Alfalfa () Protein Recovery Using Screw Presses.

As a consequence of the increased demand for proteins for both feed and food, alternative protein sources from green plants such as alfalfa () have come into focus, together with methods to recover these proteins. In this study, we have investigated the use of screw presses for protein recovery from alfalfa at laboratory and pilot scale. We found that using a pilot scale screw press, with a working pressure of 6 bar, 16% of the total protein was recovered in one pressing, and that after rehydrating and repressing the alfalfa up to ten times, 48% of the total protein could be recovered.

Adolescents' needs for information and psychosocial support during their mother's breast cancer trajectory: A systematic review.

Objective: Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis among women. The acute crisis and uncertainty that often follow diagnosis put the family at risk of exhaustion and dysfunction. Adolescents have been identified as a particularly vulnerable group of relatives.

Coping in the Danish general population: psychometric properties of the Danish version of the Brief Approach/Avoidance Coping Questionnaire.

Objective: To enable measurement of coping in the general Danish population the aims of this study are to 1) describe the translation and cultural adaption of the Danish Brief Approach/Avoidance Coping Questionnaire (BACQ) and 2) investigate the psychometric properties of the Danish BACQ.

Design: The BACQ was translated and adapted into Danish, and the psychometric properties tested in two samples of adult Danish citizens: Sample  = 167, used for exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and Sample  = 330 persons, used for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Internal consistency was evaluated by Cronbach's Alpha, item-to-rest correlation, and scale-to-scale Pearson correlation.

Endoscopic calcium electroporation for colorectal cancer: a phase I study.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignancies, with approximately 20 % of patients having metastatic disease. Local symptoms from the tumor remain a common issue and affect quality of life. Electroporation is a method to permeabilize cell membranes with high-voltage pulses, allowing increased passage of otherwise poorly permeating substances such as calcium.

Circulating Tumor DNA Monitoring Reveals Molecular Progression before Radiologic Progression in a Real-life Cohort of Patients with Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.

Objectives: Due to increasing pressure on healthcare resources, knowledge of factors that affect healthcare utilization (HCU) is important. However, the evidence of a longitudinal association between loneliness and social isolation respectively, and HCU is limited. The present prospective cohort study investigated the association of loneliness and social isolation with HCU in the general population over time.

The Danish Heart Failure Registry: A Validation Study of Content.

Background: The Danish Heart Failure Registry (DHFR) is a clinical quality database established to monitor and improve the quality of heart failure (HF) care in Denmark.

Objective: We examined the validity of the content of the DHFR.

Methods: In a random sample of patients registered in DHFR between the 1st of January 2016 to the 31st of December 2018, we determined the agreement between the information entered in the database and information in the medical records regarding 1) content; 2) sensitivity; 3) specificity; 4) positive predictive values (PPV) as well as negative predictive values (NPV) of all patient characteristics and performance measures obtained in the DHFR.

Weak inclusion of the medical humanities in medical education: a qualitative study among Danish medical students.

Background: The modern medical education is predominantly grounded in the biomedical sciences. In recent years, medical humanities have been included into the medical curricula in many countries around the world one of the objectives being to promote patient-centred, empathic care by future physicians.
