View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe twilight sky is usually characterized by the well-known reddish/orange colors close to the horizon and the blue colors above. However, in many cases, a green or greenish band forms between the blue and reddish parts of the sky, and it is essentially not documented in the literature. In this study, the green band phenomenon is simulated using the radiative transfer model SCIATRAN and subsequent color modeling based on the CIE color matching functions and chromaticity values.
