Background: To improve the diagnostic accuracy of the state of consciousness of patients with severe brain injury, Giacino et al. introduced the Coma Recovery Scale (CRS) in 1991, which underwent revision in 2004, resulting in the revised CRS scale (CRS-R).
Objective: To determine the concurrent validity, as well as inter- and intrarater agreement of the CRS-R's adaptation to Brazilian Portuguese.
Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) are a diverse group of hereditary neurodegenerative disorders characterized by progressive degeneration of the cerebellum and other parts of the nervous system. In this study, we examined the genotype‒phenotype correlations in SCAs within the Brazilian population by leveraging a comprehensive dataset of 763 individuals from SARAH Network of Rehabilitation Hospitals. Using a retrospective, cross-sectional, observational, multicentric approach, we analysed medical records and conducted standardized molecular testing to explore epidemiological characteristics, clinical manifestations, and genetic profiles of SCAs in Brazil.

Background: Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a genetic cause of ischemic stroke and the most common form of non-atherosclerotic stroke. Despite being the most prevalent vascular hereditary disease, clinical data regarding the Brazilian population are scarce. Considering that the Brazilian population has one of the most heterogeneous genetic constitutions in the world, knowledge about genetic and epidemiological profiles is mandatory.

Cross-sectional studies suggest an association between dopamine replacement therapy, especially dopaminergic agonists, and impulse control and related disorders in Parkinson's disease. However, some surveys suggest that Parkinson's disease itself does not confer an altered risk for impulse control disorders and related behavior, although these disturbances are more frequently reported in Parkinsonian patients than in healthy controls.
