BACKGROUND In 2011, following a period with delivery problems, the only registered digitoxin drug in Norway was replaced with digoxin. As a result, approximately 21 000 patients had to replace digitoxin with digoxin. There are important pharmacokinetic differences between digitoxin and digoxin (the general term for both drugs is digitalis), which must be taken into account when changing therapy.

Background: Before 2003, the sale of paracetamol in Norway was restricted to pharmacies only. In November 2003 this place of sale restriction was lifted, allowing sale of paracetamol in non-pharmacy locations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence, severity and mortality of paracetamol poisoning before and after the lifting of the place of sale restriction.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: After the introduction of new regulations in 1981 and 1990 in Norway, over-the-counter sales of paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid have been limited to 10 grams. From 1990 the sale of paracetamol has increased dramatically; that of acetylsalicylic acid has accordingly been reduced. We have investigated the morbidity and mortality from overdoses of analgesics, especially paracetamol, in the period 1990-2001.
