Methods: Patients registered with stage III and IV RCC in the Danish Renal Cancer Database (DaRenCa) in 2014-2016 were included in the study and followed up until recurrence or death. We conducted a Cox Proportional Hazard Model to examine the association between several variables and the development of RCC.
Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM) is a rare autosomal recessive lung disease caused by variants in the SLC34A2 gene encoding the sodium-dependent phosphate transport protein 2B, NaPi-2b. PAM is characterized by deposition of calcium phosphate crystals in the alveoli. Onset and clinical course vary considerably; some patients remain asymptomatic while others develop severe respiratory failure with a significant symptom burden and compromised survival.

Patient representatives are increasingly engaged in quality in health care, and even though quality data are publicly available, correct interpretation may be challenging. We designed a randomized study with the primary aim to examine the association between preferred data presentation format and the interpretation of quality data among cancer patients and relatives. Surveys were distributed to the Danish Cancer Society Citizens' Panel between 31 March and 14 April 2019 and 55% completed the survey ( = 464) including six storyboards that presented authentic quality data in table format, league table and point estimates.

Objective: Depression is a leading cause of disability globally and affects more women than men. Ovarian sex steroids are thought to modify depression risk in women and interventions such as bilateral oophorectomy that permanently change the sex steroid milieu may increase the risk of depression. Genetic studies have repeatedly shown that the Bromodomain containing 1 gene, BRD1, is involved in determining mental health, and the importance of the BRD1 protein for normal brain function has been studied in both cell models and constitutive haploinsufficient Brd1 mice. Homozygosity for inactivated Brd1 alleles is lethal during embryonic development in mice. In order to further characterize the molecular functions of BRD1 in the brain, we have developed a novel Brd1 knockout mouse model (Brd1) with bi-allelic conditional inactivation of Brd1 in the central nervous system.

The involvement of cancer patients in symptom reporting talks into our cultural narrative of empowerment and participation in decisions in health of both patients and professionals. Electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) is a tool applied for use in such interaction. Based on limited evidence and few empirical studies, health systems are rapidly implementing this instrument in managing patients in active treatment and in follow-up.
