Adhesive hydrogel holds huge potential in biomedical applications, such as hemostasis and emergent wound management during outpatient treatment or surgery. However, most adhesive hydrogels underperform to offer robust adhesions on the wet tissue, increasing the risk of hemorrhage and reducing the fault tolerance of surgery. To address this issue, this work develops a polysaccharide-based bioadhesive hydrogel tape (ACAN) consisting of dual cross-linking of allyl cellulose (AC) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS).

The species contains a diverse set of sequence types and there remain important questions regarding differences in genetic content within this population that need to be addressed. Pangenomes are useful vehicles for studying gene content within sequence types. Here, we analyse 21 sequence type pangenomes using comparative pangenomics to identify variance in both pangenome structure and content.

Bone marrow involvement is an important aspect of determining staging of disease and treatment for childhood neuroblastoma. Current standard of care relies on microscopic examination of bone marrow trephine biopsies and aspirates respectively, to define involvement. Flow cytometric analysis of disaggregated tumour cells, when using a panel of neuroblastoma specific markers, allows for potentially less subjective determination of the presence of tumour cells.

Polymer surface patterning and modification at the micro/nano scale has been discovered with great impact in applications such as microfluidics and biomedical technologies. We propose a highly efficient fabricating strategy, to achieve a functional polymer surface, which has control over the surface roughness. The key development in this fabrication method is the polymer positive diffusion effect (PDE) for an ion-bombarded polymeric hybrid surface through focused ion beam (FIB) technology.
