A key factor influencing consumer acceptance of soybean products is the aroma and taste profile, which can be modulated through fermentation using unique microbial strains. This study aimed to identify and characterize novel microbial strains with the potential to enhance flavour profiles including umami, while reducing undesirable flavour notes such as beany aromas. The results showed an 800% (8-fold) increase in free amino acids in samples fermented with , which correlated with an increase in umami intensity as measured using an E-tongue.

Methods: This prospective study compared CIMT among patients with and without bronchiectasis, and among bronchiectatic patients classified according to disease severity using the FACED score. The study was carried out at a major regional hospital and tertiary respiratory referral centre in Hong Kong.

Our Single-Pixel Optical Tracers (SPOT) tool uses 2-dimensional diffraction gratings embedded into a soft substrate to convert cells' mechanical traction force into optical colors detectable by a video camera. The platform measures the sub-cellular traction forces of diverse cell types, including tightly connected tissue sheets and near isolated cells.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFGiven the high death rate caused by high-risk prostate cancer (PCa) (>40%) and the reliability issues associated with traditional prognostic markers, the purpose of this study is to investigate planning computed tomography (pCT)-based radiomics for the long-term prognostication of high-risk localized PCa patients who received whole pelvic radiotherapy (WPRT). This is a retrospective study with methods based on best practice procedures for radiomics research. Sixty-four patients were selected and randomly assigned to training ( = 45) and testing ( = 19) cohorts for radiomics model development with five major steps: pCT image acquisition using a Philips Big Bore CT simulator; multiple manual segmentations of clinical target volume for the prostate (CTV) on the pCT images; feature extraction from the CTV using PyRadiomics; feature selection for overfitting avoidance; and model development with three-fold cross-validation.

Participants ( = 344) completed the Insomnia Severity Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and the Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire in a Qualtrics survey while reporting mobile phone use. Qualtrics recorded the time and the number of clicks required to complete each page of the survey.
