We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson in final states with a charged lepton (electron or muon), missing transverse energy, and two or three jets, at least one of which is identified as a b-quark jet. The search is primarily sensitive to WH→ℓνbb production and uses data corresponding to 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp Collider at √s = 1.

Search for the standard model Higgs boson in ZH→ℓ(+)ℓ(-)bb production with the D0 detector in 9.7 fb(-1) of pp collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV.

A measurement of the electron charge asymmetry in inclusive pp→W+X→eν+X production at sqrt[s]=7  TeV is presented based on data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 840  pb(-1). The electron charge asymmetry reflects the unequal production of W(+) and W(-) bosons in pp collisions. The electron charge asymmetry is measured in bins of the absolute value of electron pseudorapidity in the range of |η|<2.

Search for dark matter and large extra dimensions in pp collisions yielding a photon and missing transverse energy.

Results are presented from a search for new physics in the final state containing a photon (γ) and missing transverse energy (E[combininb /](T)). The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at √[s]=7 TeV by the CMS experiment.

Search for violation of Lorentz invariance in top quark pair production and decay.

Using data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, corresponding to 5.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, we search for violation of Lorentz invariance by examining the tt[over ¯] production cross section in lepton+jets final states. We quantify this violation using the standard-model extension framework, which predicts a dependence of the tt[over ¯] production cross section on sidereal time as the orientation of the detector changes with the rotation of the Earth.

Observation of a new Ξb baryon.

The observation of a new b baryon via its strong decay into Ξ(b)(-) π(+) (plus charge conjugates) is reported. The measurement uses a data sample of pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 7 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 fb(-1).

Novel levamisole derivative induces extrinsic pathway of apoptosis in cancer cells and inhibits tumor progression in mice.

Background: Levamisole, an imidazo(2,1-b)thiazole derivative, has been reported to be a potential antitumor agent. In the present study, we have investigated the mechanism of action of one of the recently identified analogues, 4a (2-benzyl-6-(4'-fluorophenyl)-5-thiocyanato-imidazo[2,1-b][1], [3], [4]thiadiazole).

Materials And Methods: ROS production and expression of various apoptotic proteins were measured following 4a treatment in leukemia cell lines.

Further reactions of A or B with glycols in 1:1 molar ratio afforded six chemically modified precursors of the types [Zr(OPr(i))(OGO){OSi(O(t)Bu)(3)}] (1A-3A) and [Zr(OGO){OSi(O(t)Bu)(3)}(2)] (1B-3B), respectively [where G = (-CH(2)-)(2) (1A, 1B); (-CH(2)-)(3) (2A, 2B) and (-CH(2)CH(2)CH(CH(3)-)} (3A, 3B)]. The precursors A and B are viscous liquids, which solidify on ageing whereas the other products are all solids, soluble in common organic solvents.

Measurements of WW and WZ production in W + jets final states in pp collisions.

We study WW and WZ production with ℓνqq (ℓ=e,μ) final states using data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider corresponding to 4.3  fb(-1) of integrated luminosity from pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96  TeV.

Kartagener syndrome associated with mesangioproliferative glomerulonephritis.

An 11-year-old girl with clinical features of Kartagener syndrome presented with signs of acute glomerulonephritis. Blood urea and creatinine were mildly elevated and anti-streptolysin O and C3 levels were normal. Renal biopsy demonstrated mesangial proliferation and direct immunofluorescence showed IgM and C3 deposits.

Measurement of the W boson mass with the D0 detector.

We present a measurement of the W boson mass using data corresponding to 4.3  fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector during Run II at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider. With a sample of 1,677,394 W → eν candidate events, we measure M(W) = 80.

Search for universal extra dimensions in pp collisions.

We present a search for Kaluza-Klein (KK) particles predicted by models with universal extra dimensions (UED) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb(-1), collected by the D0 detector at a pp center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV.

Search for charged massive long-lived particles.

We report on a search for charged massive long-lived particles (CMLLPs), based on 5.2  fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider. We search for events in which one or more particles are reconstructed as muons but have speed and ionization energy loss (dE/dx) inconsistent with muons produced in beam collisions.

Search for signatures of extra dimensions in the diphoton mass spectrum at the large hadron collider.

A search for signatures of extra spatial dimensions in the diphoton invariant-mass spectrum has been performed with the CMS detector at the LHC. No excess of events above the standard model expectation is observed using a data sample collected in proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb(-1).

Evidence for spin correlation in t ̅t production.

We present a measurement of the ratio of events with correlated t and t ̅t spins to the total number of t ̅t events. This ratio f is evaluated using a matrix-element-based approach in 729 t ̅t candidate events with a single lepton ℓ (electron or muon) and at least four jets. The analyzed p ̅p collisions data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.

Search for doubly charged Higgs boson pair production in pp¯ collisions at √s=1.96 TeV.

We present a search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons in the processes qq¯→H(++)H(--) decaying through H(±±)→τ(±)τ(±),μ(±)τ(±),μ(±)μ(±). The search is performed in pp¯ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 1.96 TeV using an integrated luminosity of up to 7.

Time-dependent predominance of nonhomologous DNA end-joining pathways during embryonic development in mice.

Repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) is crucial for maintaining genomic integrity during the successful development of a fertilized egg into a whole organism. To date, the mechanism of DSB repair in postimplantation embryos has been largely unknown. In the present study, using a cell-free repair system derived from the different embryonic stages of mice, we find that canonical nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ), one of the major DSB repair pathways in mammals, is predominant at 14.

Proliferation rate but not mismatch repair affects the long-term response of colon carcinoma cells to 5FU treatment.

The role of mismatch repair (MMR) in the response of colon carcinoma cells to 5-fluorouracil (5FU) is not well understood. In most of the in vitro studies only short-term response was investigated. We focussed here on the influence of MMR status on the mechanism of the short- and long-term response to clinically relevant 5FU concentrations by using isogenic or semiisogenic cell line pairs expressing/nonexpressing the hMLH1 protein, an important component of the MMR system.

Search for a vectorlike quark with charge 2/3 in t+Z events from pp collisions at √s=7 TeV.

A search for pair-produced heavy vectorlike charge-2/3 quarks, T, in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, is performed with the CMS detector at the LHC. Events consistent with the flavor-changing-neutral-current decay of a T quark to a top quark and a Z boson are selected by requiring two leptons from the Z-boson decay, as well as an additional isolated charged lepton. Wγ production and limits on anomalous WWγ couplings in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.96 TeV.

We measure the cross section and the difference in rapidities between photons and charged leptons for inclusive W(→lν) + γ production in eγ and μγ final states. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2  fb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, the measured cross section times branching fraction for the process pp → Wγ + X → lνγ + X and the distribution of the charge-signed photon-lepton rapidity difference are found to be in agreement with the standard model.
