Developing X-ray scintillators that are water-dispersible, compatible with polymeric matrices, and processable to flexible substrates is an important challenge. Herein, Tb-doped NaLuF is introduced as an X-ray scintillating material with steady-state X-ray light yields of 15,800 photons MeV, which is generated as nanocrystals on halloysite nanotubes. The obtained product exhibits good water-dispersibility and highly sensitive luminescence to X-rays.

A total of 10 specimens of Alcyonacea corals were collected at depths ranging from 905 m to 1 633 m by the manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi during two cruises in the South China Sea (SCS). Based on mitochondrial genomic characteristics, morphological examination, and sclerite scanning electron microscopy, the samples were categorized into four suborders (Calcaxonia, Holaxonia, Scleraxonia, and Stolonifera), and identified as 9 possible new cold-water coral species. Assessments of GC-skew dissimilarity, phylogenetic distance, and average nucleotide identity (ANI) revealed a slow evolutionary rate for the octocoral mitochondrial sequences.

The I-H and F-H transitions of Dy are usually used for luminescent ratiometric thermometry in the form of photoluminescence. However, here we demonstrate the possibility of using this pair of lines for luminescent ratiometric thermometry in the model of mechanoluminescence (ML) in CaZnOS:Dy. Upon stimulation of an external mechanical force rather than light, CaZnOS:Dy emits bright yellow luminescence.

The trivalent lanthanides have been broadly utilized as emitting centers in persistent luminescence (PersL) materials due to their wide emitting spectral range, which thus attract considerable attention over decades. However, the origin of the trivalent lanthanides' PersL is still an open question, hindering the development of excellent PersL phosphors and their broad applications. To investigate the expression of homeobox B (Hoxb)-13 and analyze its relationship with tumor angiogenesis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-associated markers (E-cadherin and vimentin), clinicopathologic data and prognosis in pancreatic carcinoma. Immunohistochemistry was applied to determine the level of Hoxb-13 expression in tumor tissues and surrounding non-tumor tissues from 85 subjects with pancreatic carcinoma. Besides, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), CD31, E-cadherin and vimentin were also detected in tumor tissues by immunostaining.
