: Cystatin B (CSTB) has been demonstrated to play a significant role in the pathogenesis of a number of diseases, including the evolution and progression of multiple cancers. Nevertheless, the function of CSTB in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is yet to be fully elucidated. : By analyzing transcriptome sequencing data from the FU-iCCA cohort, the iCCA-27 cohort, and three public databases, we identified genes associated with iCCA prognosis and selected CSTB as the subject of our study.

Methods: Gene set variation analysis (GSVA) scores were used to investigate the relationship between ferroptosis and AD. Logistic regression with seven feature selections and a deep learning model were utilized to identify potential targets of AMK based on transcriptomic data from multiple tissues.
Plants perceive signals associated with herbivore eggs and in response initiate ovicidal defence. However, which phytohormone pathways regulate this defence and which defensive compounds dominate it remains largely unknown. Here, we found that the hatching rate of eggs of white-backed planthopper (WBPH) Sogatella furcifera was significantly lower on a japonica rice variety P81 than an indica rice variety NB44.

However, they are susceptible to inducing catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) due to bacterial adherence to the catheter's surface, and they exhibit a high friction coefficient, which can greatly affect their effectiveness and functionality. Thus, the development of a silicone urinary catheter with antibacterial properties and lubricity is in strong demand.

The results demonstrated that after gelatinization and debranching, the surface of the starch crystals became rough and uneven due to hydrolysis, with most particles showing a fragmented surface. The crystalline state was not significantly changed with debranching time.

The uniform dispersion and loading of phthalocyanine molecular catalysts on conductive carbon substrates are crucial for exposing their active sites. The significant amount of solvent needed to achieve appropriate dispersion of phthalocyanine leads to the risk of reaggregation during solvent evaporation. Hence, a solventless strategy is adopted by many to bypass the use of a solvent.

Studies to date on the issue of Meth-associated depression and anxiety are focused on the brain, however, whether peripheral homeostasis, especially the "microbiota-gut" axis participates in these adverse outcomes, remains poorly understood. In the current study, with the fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) assay, the mice received microbiota from Meth withdrawal mice displayed marked depression and anxiety behaviors.

Chemical modification of starch hydroxyl groups plays a key role in modulating the microstructures and enhancing the electrochemical performance of the hard carbon (HC) anode in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, the regulation and design of advanced sodium storage structures are limited by their diverse and complex microstructures. Herein, diammonium phosphate (DAP) as a cross-linking agent for corn starch and modification of the physicochemical properties of the starch surface can effectively promote the regulation and balance between the pore structure and interlayer spacing of the constructed HC.

Methods: Data of various forms, sources and levels of Se were analyzed using a meta-analysis approach in terms of their effects on production, antioxidant activity and egg Se deposition of laying hens by using 81 peer-reviewed publications.
Results: Overall, laying hens' performance and egg quality attributes were not affected by Se supplementation, except for minor changes in egg weight and eggshell thickness in response to higher Se levels in diets.
Radiotherapy (RT) hinges on DNA damage-induced cancer cell death and the subsequent anti-tumor immunity. However, the efficacy of RT is curtailed by cell cycle heterogeneity and an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, which foster radioresistance. Here an ion generator-based RT enhancement strategy is demonstrated in a mouse model of the radioresistant tumor.

Methods: The patients who had hyperthyroidism caused by Graves' disease, with severe liver injury (The level of total bilirubin ≥12 mg/dL), and after 1 week of liver protective medication treatment, the patient's liver function did not improve, were enrolled in this study. All patients were treated with iodine-131 and PE.
Introduction: The plant restoration and ecological restoration of lead-zinc mines are very important.
Methods: In this study, we used three local plants to carry out ecological restoration of abandoned lead-zinc mining areas and detected the adaptive mechanisms of soil bacterial diversity and function during the ecological restoration of lead-zinc mines through 16S rRNA sequencing.
Results: The results revealed that lead-zinc mining significantly reduced the soil bacterial diversity, including the Shannon, Simpson, and observed species indices, whereas the planting of the three ecological restoration plants restored the soil microbial diversity to a certain extent, leading to increases in the Shannon index and Observed species indices.
Probiotics as antibiotic alternatives are unstable for use under stress in clinical applications. To explore the influence of catecholamine hormones on probiotic bacterial inhibition and antimicrobial activity, we tested the effects of norepinephrine (NE) on and in a mouse model. The results showed that in the presence of NE, 80% of strains showed increased growth rate and more than 80% of the strains indicated lower antimicrobial activity at 22 h.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) refers to hyperglycemia first recognized during pregnancy, characterized by decreased insulin sensitivity and impaired glucose metabolism. Dynamic fusion and fission processes within mitochondria play critical roles in maintaining glucose metabolism homeostasis. Given the fundamental role of mitochondrial fission factor (MFF) in mitochondrial fission, the intention of this study was to investigate mitochondrial dynamics in the placentae of GDM patients and explore the role of MFF in the etiopathogenesis and progression of GDM through the modulation of glucose metabolism and insulin resistance.
