While community-based education programs offer promising benefits, there is still limited understanding of their impact on nursing students' empathy, emotional intelligence, and caring behaviors.

Understanding the patient-spouse communication experience during chemotherapy for gastric cancer: A qualitative study.

Purpose: This study examines how patients with gastric cancer and their spouses communicate about the illness, assessing the impact of positive or negative communication on their psychological adaptation and the intimacy of their relationship as a couple.

Method: Employing The Relationship Intimacy Model of Couple Adaptation to Cancer, this study used purposive sampling with the principle of maximum variation to select participants. Sixteen pairs of patients with gastric cancer and their spouse caregivers, hospitalized in the oncology department of a tertiary hospital in Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province, from March to July 2023, were chosen for semi-structured face-to-face interviews.

Child-friendly healthcare: A concept analysis.

Objective: This study aims to analyze the concept of Child-friendly Healthcare (CFH) using Walker and Avant's conceptual analysis framework to clarify its meaning, attributes, and implications for clinical practice.

Method: The study employed Walker and Avant's conceptual analysis method, which involves a systematic process comprising concept selection, setting objectives, exploring potential uses, defining attributes, constructing a model case, identifying contrary cases, determining antecedents and consequences, and examining empirical referents. A scoping review was conducted across multiple sources, including online dictionaries, scientific databases, and grey literature, with a focus on literature relevant to CFH.

Effect of holistic reflective learning program on development of nursing students' professional competency in geriatric clinical practice: a quasi-experimental study.

Background: Reflection is a core competency in geriatric nursing, and reflective learning is an effective approach in nursing education and pracice. An internship program is a transition course that enhances the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of aspiring nursing students in real clinical work. In geriatric clinical setting, nursing internship students require a broad understanding of professional competency that integrates reflective learning with clinical practice to deal with geriatric patient problems and equip them with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to provide quality of care.

Cross-cultural adaptation of the empowerment scale of pregnant women in China context: An integrative method of translation and linguistic validation.

Aim: To translate the Empowerment Scale for Pregnant Women (ESPW) into Chinese and to assess its linguistic validity.

Methods: The integrative method of the translation process, the Delphi technique, and cognitive interviews were used to implement cross-cultural adaptation and enhance comprehensibility and linguistic validation. This study recruited 14 experts in the expert review and cognitively reviewed 15 pregnant women.

The cross-sectional study was conducted to translate and validate the psychometric properties of the ESPW among 526 pregnant women in China.

As the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among children discharged from pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) continues to rise, corresponding research efforts have also increased. This scoping review aimed to review the PTSD prevalence, influencing factors, and tools used for PTSD measurements in children discharged from the PICU. This review employed the five-stage framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley.

Perceptions and self-management of a healthy diet among middle-aged adults with risk of stroke in North China: a qualitative exploration.

Objective: Although stroke is prevalent among older people, there is a rising incidence among the younger subpopulations, particularly middle-aged adults. A healthy diet is one of the key modifiable factors to primary prevention of stroke among these subpopulations, yet there is limited understanding of the dietary habits among middle agers who have the risk factor(s) but no occurrence of stroke. This study aims to explore the views on perceptions and the self-management of middle-aged adults at risk of stroke on a healthy diet and to identify the enablers and barriers that could inform the future development of dietary interventions.

Older people's experiences of participation in mindfulness-based intervention programmes: A qualitative systematic review.

This systematic review aimed to synthesise the qualitative evidence of mindfulness-based interventions and focused on the perceptions and experience of older people. A literature search was conducted using electronic databases including CINAHL, EMBASE, EMCare, and MEDLINE. The inclusion criteria for the review were an original study that includes qualitative data on experience and perceptions of mindfulness interventions, a study population involving older people aged 60 years and above, and articles published in English.

Background: The empowerment of pregnant women is a meaningful strategy that profoundly impacts the health of women and their children. Despite a significant increase in the empowerment of pregnant women and its measurement, little attention was given to a consensus on the selection and application of assessment instruments used for pregnant women.

Objective: To identify the available assessment instruments for measuring the empowerment of pregnant women and to describe the appraisal content and their psychometric properties.

Objectives: To describe the development of a webpage based on the Intervention Mapping (IM) protocol and usability testing of the Diabetic Retinopathy Health Education Profram (DRHEP).

Methods: The mixed methods pilot feasibility study was carried out between April and September 2021, involving 16 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 5 experts. The usability score was rated according to the System Usability Scale (SUS).

Internet-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Individuals Experiencing Panic Attacks: A Scoping Literature Review.

Panic attacks (PAs) are prevalent and highly comorbid with various physical and psychological disorders. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a well-established psychosocial intervention. Internet-delivered CBT (ICBT) presents a promising avenue to overcome barriers and provide evidence-based support to those in need.

The mediating role of coping styles in the relationship between second victim experience and professional quality of life among nurses: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Studies have shown that second-victim experiences could increase risks of the compassion fatigue while support from individuals and organisations is most often protection. However, the risk for poor compassion satisfaction and increased compassion fatigue in nurses aroused by adverse events remains an underestimated problem, meanwhile, litter known about the role of positive and negative coping styles among nurses suffering from adverse events. This study aims to investigate the effect of second-victim experiences on the professional quality of life among nurses and to determine the mediating role of coping styles in the relationship between second-victim experiences and professional quality of life.

Detection of Sarcopenia in a Community-Dwelling Older Population in China.

Background And Purpose: Sarcopenia is a common muscle disease among the older population, posing an increased risk for functional decline and intervention for loss of independence in daily living. Early detection of sarcopenia among older people before functional decline would be beneficial in enhancing their quality of life. The Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) 2019 recommends the use of 3 screening methods for community-based sarcopenia detection: calf circumference (CC), or the Strength, Assistance in walking, Rise from a chair, Climb stairs, and Falls (SARC-F) questionnaire, or the SARC-F in combination with CC (SARC-CalF) questionnaire.
