Background And Objectives: Lipid metabolism in older adults is affected by various factors including biological aging, functional decline, reduced physiologic reserve, and nutrient intake. The dysregulation of lipid metabolism could adversely affect brain health. This study investigated the association between year-to-year intraindividual lipid variability and subsequent risk of cognitive decline and dementia in community-dwelling older adults.

Methods: Consecutive patients attended specialist clinics or admitted to wards in three tertiary hospitals for new or existing NIUs from November 2019 to November 2021 were eligible for this study.
Background: Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) primarily manifests as a cardiomyopathy induced by physical or emotional stress, remains a poorly understood condition with no established treatments. In this study, we investigated the potential of sacubitril/valsartan (sac/val) to increase the survival of TTS patients and reduce inflammation and myocardial fibrosis in experimental models.
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate whether sac/val could improve survival rates in TTS patients, mitigate cardiac remodeling in vivo, and explore its anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic mechanisms in vitro.
Background: Endoscopic thyroidectomy (ET) offers superior cosmetic outcomes compared to traditional open thyroidectomy but is associated with higher postoperative drainage volumes (DV) and potential complications. Although ET via the areola approach (ETAA) has been used, the factors influencing DV after ETAA remain poorly understood. Therefore, this study aimed to identify clinical parameters that can objectively evaluate the factors influencing drainage volume after ETAA.

Regrettably, few studies have investigated the effect of comorbid allergies on ADHD symptoms and sleep, in particular, it is unclear whether comorbid allergic conditions further exacerbate sleep problems in children with ADHD.
Objective: To investigate the effect of comorbid allergic on symptoms and sleep in children with ADHD.
Mismatch repair deficiency (MMRd) or microsatellite instability high (MSI-H) is rare in prostate cancer and more frequently observed in cases with ductal histology. MLH1 copy number loss is extremely rare in MMRd tumors. Herein, we describe a case of prostate ductal adenocarcinoma with MLH1 copy number loss, microsatellite instability high and BRCA2 mutation could derive benefit from immunotherapy plus ADT.

Landmark trials have provided Level 1 evidence for the survival benefits achieved by combining multiple agents. The efficacy of combined therapy relies not only on how treatment is intensified but also on how it is de-escalated.

Accordingly, we examined patient-reported outcomes (PROs) results, which were exploratory endpoints in the CHART trial. The patients were randomly allocated to receive REZ-ADT or BIC-ADT in a 1:1 ratio.

In primary motor cortex, changes in excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission (E:I balance) accompany motor sequence learning. In particular, there is an early reduction in inhibition (i.

It can be frequently misdiagnosed, and detailed history and relevant investigations are needed to differentiate epilepsy from syncope. Electroencephalogram is a key noninvasive assessment of neurological function, and the diagnostic yield is increased when performed for an extended period in the ambulatory setting with concurrent electrocardiogram and video monitoring.

We describe the baseline characteristics of the STAREE (Statins in Reducing Events in the Elderly) trial, which is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial among community-dwelling older people; the trial evaluated the effect of atorvastatin 40 mg for the prevention of major cardiovascular events (cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction or stroke), and on disability-free survival (survival free of both dementia and persistent physical disability).
Methods And Results: STAREE enrolled people aged ≥70 years from 1583 general practices across Australia with no history of clinical cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or dementia.
Background: A multidisciplinary care model involving the interventional radiologist, vascular surgeon, interventional nephrologist, renal advanced nurse practitioner, and renal coordinators was implemented to improve the care for the patient admitted with dysfunctional hemodialysis access. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of this multidisciplinary care model.
Method: A dedicated interventional nephrology suite was established to perform endovascular procedures for patients admitted with hemodialysis access dysfunction via the emergency department of the hospital.
Given the high risk of peri-operative morbidity and mortality associated with open repair, endovascular repair for thoraco-abdominal aneurysms is increasingly performed. This study aims to describe mid to long-term results for patients who were treated with COOK Custom-Made Endograft Device at a single Southeast Asian tertiary centre. Mid to long-term results of patients treated from 2012 to 2022 were retrospectively reviewed.

Methods: The Society for Vascular Surgery Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) registry database from the first and currently the only VQI center in Asia was reviewed to identify patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia who underwent endovascular revascularization between July 2019 and April 2024. Standardized VQI reporting variables were compared against benchmarks derived from all participating centers in North America.
Key event-related potentials (ERPs) of perceptual decision-making such as centroparietal positivity (CPP) elucidate how evidence is accumulated toward a given choice. Furthermore, this accumulation can be impacted by visual target selection signals such as the N2 contralateral (N2c). How these underlying neural mechanisms of perceptual decision-making are influenced by the spatial congruence of distractors relative to target stimuli remains unclear.

There has been a recent upsurge in non-pharmacological management involving mindfulness-based meditation (MBM) in lowering blood pressure (BP) among the hypertensive population; however, the level of supportive evidence among patients primarily diagnosed with hypertension remain limited. Therefore, this systematic review aimed to synthesize the evidence of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the effect of MBM on BP explicitly in adults primarily diagnosed with elevated blood pressure or hypertension.

However, current literature regarding the anatomic changes in the common femoral artery (CFA) post-PEVAR is sparse and contradictory, and a significant proportion of these studies did not control for the potential confounding effects of ethnicity. Thus, this study aims to investigate the anatomical effects of PEVAR on the CFA using an Asian study cohort.

Methods: This study investigated C-C motif chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5)'s tumorigenic impact on renal cancer cells and CTCs using bioinformatics, in vivo, and in vitro experiments. It also assessed renal cancer patients' CTCs prognostic value through Lasso regression and Kaplan-Meier survival curves.

Glutathione-S-transferases (GST) enzymes detoxify xenobiotics and are implicated in response to anticancer therapy. This study evaluated the association of GST theta 1 (GSTT1), GSTT2, and GSTT2B with Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) response in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer treatment. In vitro assessments of GSTT2 knockout (KO) effects were performed using cell lines and dendritic cells (DCs) from GSTT2KO mice.

Materials And Methods: This is a prospective single-center cohort study performed at a local tertiary hospital in Singapore. Consecutive patients who underwent lower limb angioplasty for CLTI using a noncompliant balloon catheter were enrolled if they were aged 40 years and above, presented with CLTI Rutherford grade 4 to 6, and had TASC C or D lesions in the lower limb vessels that were at least 100mm in length.
Purpose Of Review: Adult food allergy, either unresolved from childhood, or new-onset in adult-life, is known to be increasingly prevalent. Although much of the reported anaphylaxis in adults is due to drug reactions, foods are becoming an increasingly important trigger, affecting adults of all ages, with a wide variation in food triggers which are often quite different to those reported in children.
Recent Findings: Peanuts are well known to cause anaphylaxis in some adult populations, but other legumes such as soy may be more relevant in others.
